John PETERSON

John Theron Peterson (better known as "Pete") was born in Grand Meadow, Minnesota on April 8, 1936, the son of Joseph T. and Agnes Peterson. Shortly thereafter the family moved to Northern Iowa and John was primarily raised in Forest City, Iowa. Graduating from high school in 1954 and subsequently from Waldorf College in 1956 both in Forest City. He then attended the University of South Dakota for one year until being drafted in the United States Army on December 1, 1958. John was released from active duty on November 30, 1960 and after serving four years in the Army Reserve he was honorably discharged from the Army on November 30, 1966. Upon his release from active duty, John journeyed to Spokane, Washington where his sister Jean resided.

In February of 1961 John began employment with the Seattle First National Bank (Spokane and Eastern Branch) in Spokane. John also worked in branches in Cheney, WA and Colville, WA. After returning to the Spokane and Eastern Branch in 1969, he resigned from the bank in March, 1972 to take a job with John A. Pring and John A. (Jack) Pring, Jr., family owners of Pring Corporation and Appleway Chevrolet, one of the largest automobile dealers in the Spokane metropolitan area. In 1997 the Pring family sold the Automobile Dealerships and John continued his employment with Pring Corporation retiring in June of 2006. John enjoyed his employment and friendship with the Pring Family.

John is survived by his youngest sister Janice Van Dam of Oak Harbor, WA. He is preceded in death by his 3 sisters, Norma Anders of Oak Harbor, WA, Jean Hardy of Spokane, WA and Dorothy Holtan of Tyler, TX and 1 nephew John Anders. John is also survived by his nephews Paul Anders, John Hardy and Tom Holtan and his nieces Stephanie Hilburn and Kimberly Trimble. John also had 4 great nieces and nephews: Kristen and Kelly Anders and Megan (Ayers) and Nicholas Hardy.
