(Age 86)

John passed away on March 10, 2011 in Spokane, WA. He was born on November 24, 1924 in Lake Stevens, WA to Minor Kelley and Winnifred Bell Reid. He graduated from Redlands High School in California and the University of Washington, receiving his undergraduate degree in 1946 and graduating with his law degree in 1949. On December 19, 1948 John married Patricia Jean Murray. After his service in the Navy, John worked in the insurance industry for 37 years. In his retirement, John was an active volunteer for Meals on Wheels, Peer Counseling, and Holy Family Hospital. John loved his family, friends and his University of Washington Huskies. He is survived by his beloved partner Jean Rose; children: Kelley Reid (Julie) of Mears Ashby, England; Linda Klaja (Denny) of Spokane; Susan Swenson (Paul) of Mill Creek, WA; and Murray Reid (Janet) of Everett, WA; grandchildren: Tiana Nelson (Jon), Kajsa Swenson, Annika Swenson, Zachary Klaja (Cristen), Sarah Klaja, Jonathan Reid (Pam), and Adam Reid; great-grandchildren: Eva and Maia Nelson, Kaimana Klaja, and Elizabeth and Clare Reid. John was preceded in death by his wife Patricia in 1999. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, March 14, 2011 at 11:00AM at St. David's Episcopal Church, 7315 N. Wall, Spokane, WA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. David's Episcopal Church, Clare Bridge Employee Appreciation Fund or Hospice of Spokane.
