Joseph FELICE Obituary

Joseph F. Felice, age 76, slipped away in his sleep in October 2019. He was 76.

Due to the shutdown of 2020-21, no service was held.

Joe (aka PeeWee) is survived by his wife of 45 years, Joey; his son Darius Felice, of Spokane; his grandson, Kyle Erdman, of Gig Harbor, WA; his granddaughter Talia Felice, of Spokane; and 3 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Fortunata (aka Fred), of Spokane; his mother, Julia, of Spokane. His oldest sister, Rose Kelling, of Spokane, passed in 2021.

PeeWee was born on May 16, 1943. His mother took one look at him and said, "Why, he's just a pee wee." The family nickname stuck for life.

Joe graduated from Rogers High in 1961. Around this time, he began playing drums in local bands, most notably the Rockin' Bandits. (Also, Four on the Floor, United States of Mind, and Salooney Tunes.) Decades later, after many bands in between, the original band players reunited as The Bandits and performed for several years, mostly for reunions.

After some college, he began his career as a sign painter. He was Central Pre-Mix's sign painter for 30+ years. He also started one of Spokane's first head shops (psychedelia & posters), The Flower Pot, in 1968. He built and ran The Old Smokeshop Beer Parlor in downtown Spokane, and played with his bands there, along with many other popular northwest Rock n' Roll bands.

Joe joined the Air National Guard and served 6 years in the Reserves.

Joe was a great family man and a loving father. He married Roseann Sdao in 1968 and they became parents to their only child, Darius.

PeeWee was a social, active man who was deeply involved in playing music, building hot rods, painting signs, & running businesses for the majority of his life. He also proudly identified as Italian.

He enjoyed restoring several hot rods, and 3 vintage midget race cars. He bought his 1930 Ford roadster hot rod in 1961 & revamped it many times for the auto show circuit. After which, he drove it often as his beloved favorite, for the rest of his life. His family and friends will always remember him as an outgoing person with a ready laugh.

A Celebration of the life of Joe Felice is scheduled for

My message seems to have disappeared so I am posting again. Pee Wee and I were close friends for decades and I was grateful to hear he went peacefully in his sleep. He painted several work trucks for my husband Dennis Jones & I over the years. I listed and sold his tavern, the Smoke Shop and when I moved to a small farm in Marshall he brought Darius and spent a day with my daughter Cami & I every week for years. Too many precious memories to mention. Thank you Darius & Joey for celebrating his beautiful and loving life! It was a work of art

One of the funniest people. He helped me alot. I learned many PeeWee sayings: "Va Va Va Voom",
"Don't spoil them..because when you stop- they won't like you anymore" and lots more.
I loved playing music with him - he had an "Italian Mystical Beat". He was a great friend....
