Joseph HAWKINS Obituary

HAWKINS, Joseph Daniel

June 29, 1965-
August 19, 2017

Joseph Daniel Hawkins passed away on August 19, 2017. Joseph experienced bad health the last few years of his life and we are grateful he is no longer experiencing pain. Joseph was the youngest of eight children of Gordon and Gloria Hawkins. Joseph grew up in Spokane where he attended University High School. While in high school, he picked up a love for woodworking. Joseph also had a great desire to do many forms of art (drawing, painting, and sculpting). This love of art was cultivated and encouraged by his mother. Joseph graduated from University High School in 1983. Joseph served a two year mission for his church in the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania area. After his mission, Joseph went on to graduate from Brigham Young University with a degree in communication. Joseph met and married Diane Miner in 1989. They are the parents of five children, Jacob, Meagan Fekete (Blayne), Richard, Joseph and Sarah. Joseph went on to become a manager of a major department store but changed employers to become his own boss. Joseph owned and operated The Candy Hut. In the last few years Joseph put his heart and soul into drawing and painting and found real contentment and purpose in his art. Joseph is also survived by his siblings, John, Paul, Peter, Matthew, Timothy, Sarah and Rebecca. There was no greater joy in Joseph's life than to be around his family. He is greatly missed by all of us.
Funeral services will be at 11:00am on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 4014 South Bowdish Road, Spokane Valley, WA. Dedication of the grave will follow at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.
