Joyce FIELDING Obituary

June 24, 1945 - March 21, 2025

Joyce Anne Fielding passed away on March 21, 2025. Born on June 24, 1945, in the community of Bottineau, ND. Her parents, Hubert and Alice, raised a family of four, moving to different farming communities during her younger years. The family lived in northern Oregon then moved to the Othello/Warden Community of Washington where Joyce attended Othello High School. After graduation she spent time at Central Washington University and helped her parents farm in Othello. While in Othello she met and married Richard Barrie. They had three sons, Edward Barrie, Joseph Barrie, and Brian Barrie, that were raised in Spokane Valley. While raising three boys, Joyce worked for over 50 years with local business owner Thomas Hamilton. She started out as an office clerk and worked her way up to operations manager. She was dedicated to her family and her work, hardly ever missing a day. In 1998, she married Jerry Fielding in Maui. For enjoyment, she liked to be in the outdoors camping and riding UTV's. She would also enjoy her time reading a good book or taking a Sunday leisurely drive to just see "what may be new." She was preceded in death by her parents, Hubert and Alice of Othello; sister, Shirley Bartholomew of De Queen, AR; and her brother, Lawrence Berg of Warden, WA. She is survived by her husband of 26 years, Jerry Fielding; brother, Allan Berg; her sons, Edward and wife, Keri, Joseph, and Brian Barrie; her stepchildren, Brad, Julie, Jason, and Michael Fielding. She has eight grandchildren, Brianna, Samantha, Meagan, Britnee, Jaden, Ashley, Savanna, and Sydney. She has numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 14th, from 1 PM to 2 PM, at Spokane Dream Center, 2128 N. Pines Rd. Suite 17, Spokane Valley, WA 99206. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to an animal shelter or doing something kind for someone. These are gestures that reflect the love and generosity that Joyce shared throughout her life. She was loved by those who knew her, and she will be deeply missed.

I went to apply for an office job with Joyce. She was so warm and gracious and told her I had MS. She hired me anyway and our long relationship began. Later we discussed putting a date on me quitting, because of my vision problems with MS. During that time our friendship continued, until now. I can´t even put into words, how much I miss her and always will. Sleep in peace, Joyce, I love you.

I am at a loss for words. My dearest, sweet cousin! We were very close growing up and loved our visits together. They were so special when Joyce could come to Everett to spend a few days. They would be shortened by the need for her to go babysit for Lawrence and Ruth. But each day was so special. It was fun to go visit on the farm too. My deepest sympathy for her family.

Joyce was my boss before she became my best friend. I will never forget her. She touched my life like no one else has ever done. I will miss her forever. Our deepest sympathies to Jerry for his profound loss and to her extended family. We know she was a mom, aunt and grandmother that can never be replaced.
