Kenneth KAUL Obituary

Kenneth Dale Kaul of Spokane, WA, passed away on Thursday, November 24, 2022, at the age of 82. After a brave battle against cancer and several months of declining health, Ken died peacefully with his beloved wife, Tina, and family by his side.

Ken was born in Malta, Montana, on November 14, 1940, to Fred Harold Kaul and Albertina Cathryn (VandeWiele) Kaul. He graduated from Glasgow High School in 1958. His work ethic inspired him to enlist in the Army National Guard directly after high school where he trained in California and served in Montana. He was honorably discharged in 1966 after serving his country for 8 years.

Ken returned to Montana to attend the University of Montana. He was a member and served as treasurer of the John Henry Cardinal Newman Honorary Society. Ken graduated in 1964 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Forest Conservation. He went on to devote his life's work to the United States Department of Agriculture where he proudly worked for over 40 years. He began his career with the USDA in Montana and served in Minnesota, Oregon, Florida, and returned to Bozeman, Montana, to complete his career. Ken retired in 2001. Ken was especially proud of his active service during retirement with the Spokane NARFE - National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association.

Ken was an avid hunter and fisherman, taking pride in teaching his sons how to appreciate the outdoors. Throughout their lives, he made many fond memories with his boys, including hunting and fishing trips in Alaska, the Pacific Northwest, Idaho, Montana, Texas, and the coast of Florida. A well-earned retirement brought Ken and Tina to Spokane, Washington. Ken kept his faith and devotion to the Catholic church, enjoying pilgrimages around the world, including a special trip to the Holy Land in 2015. Above all, Ken always kept family at the forefront, taking cross-country road trips with Tina to visit their sons and their growing families.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his devoted wife, Tina, and their four sons - Grant and Corina Kaul (Waco, TX), Travis and Kim Kaul (Sandpoint, ID), Konrad and Kandy Kaul (Murfreesboro, TN), Stuart and Allie Kaul (Charlotte, NC), and 10 grandchildren: Ashley, Austen, Christiana, Cameron, Katherine, Andrew, Kolin, Kaden, Celia, and Daniel. Ken is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Willow and Mateo.

Visitation is planned for Thursday, December 1, from 3 pm to 5 pm at The Cathedral of Our Lady of Lourdes (115 W. Riverside Ave., Spokane, WA 99201). Rosary service will follow at 5 pm at the same location. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at The Cathedral of Our Lady of Lourdes Friday, December 2, at 10 am with the burial at Holy Cross Cemetery (7200 N. Wall St., Spokane, WA 99208). A luncheon at noon will follow in the dining room at The Cathedral of Our Lady of Lourdes.
