Krista DYKES Obituary

On Wednesday, March 1st 2023, Krista Lee Dykes, loving wife and mother of two, passed away at age 34. Krista was born on October 21, 1988 to Jerad and Debra Thompson. She graduated from Deer Park High School in 2007 and soon after met James Dykes who she married in July 2010. In 2013 they welcomed their first daughter, Kamryn Lee. Their second daughter, Elsie Joy, was born in 2017.

Her love of animals came from being raised in the country where she could often be found in the hay loft with a pile of sometimes questionable barn cats. Another large part of Krista's childhood was regular family gatherings with grandparents, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Krista was a generous and compassionate woman who made friends wherever she went. She had a heart for those who needed a friend and love for those who felt unloved. Her greatest passion in life was her family, who she poured herself into.

Krista was and is fiercely nurturing and protective of her girls, James' number one supporter and champion, and a faithful advocate for all of them. James is the man he is today because of Krista's sensitivity to God's Spirit and her unwillingness to settle. Krista was a fighter in the best way; unapologetically herself, with her spirit full of sugar and spice. She saw the world through eyes that believed in something more than her current human experience and fought to raise her awareness and understanding in her pursuit of peace and happiness. She challenged James every step of the way in a way that only Krista could only pull off: with truth and grace. Her life, the good, the bad and the ugly is something that she has left has for us as seeds to use in the garden of our lives. Krista's journey was stopped before we expected, but now we get to carry the seeds of her life with us everywhere we go and share the beauty of Krista's life with everyone we encounter during our remaining time on this earth. The question we are all get to wrestle with as we move forward is how to allow the Holy Spirit to cultivate the soil of our lives so that the seeds she planted in us can grow from the extraordinarily loving, full, wild, authentic life Krista lived.

She is survived by her husband, James, their daughters Kamryn and Elsie, parents Jerad and Debra Thompson, her brother Brad Thompson (Marilyn), sister Kari Villarreal (Mark), and sister Natalie Bradeen (Hunter). She was affectionately known as Aunt Tata to Kaden, Emmaline, Ezra, Eloisa, Emery, Luella, Lake and Kash.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 19th, 2023 at the Union Stadium Event Center in Mead, WA at 1PM. A private burial will be held prior to the funeral service at Wild Rose Cemetery where Krista's body will be laid to rest.
