Lanaya Jean HAZELTINE

Lanaya Jean Hazeltine, age 80, a 35-year resident of Spokane, WA, passed away on January 16, 2025, in Spokane, WA. Lanaya was born on March 1, 1944, in Spokane, the daughter of Archie Reinholdt and Genevieve Adelaide (Collins) Anderson.

Lanaya was raised in Deer Park, WA, where she attended school and graduated from Deer Park High school in 1962. Lanaya raised her family in the Troy and Moscow, ID, communities where she also worked as a secretary for Strom Electric. In 1990, Lanaya moved to Spokane where she continued working as a secretary for the Spokane Court House. She retired as had resided in Spokane since that time.

Lanaya loved to help others and as a young woman became an active member of the Gamma Epsilon sorority. She held offices locally to include philanthropic chairman, social chairman, educational chairman, three terms as president and received countless accolades for her dedication and service. Lanaya was a four-time Woman of the Year and served as the Eastern Seal Chairman at the state level. She also enjoyed sharing time with others over a bit of friendly competition and fun. Lanaya reveled in a good game of left-right-center, bridge, back gammon, dominoes and Montana Rummy. She spent many days in bleachers cheering for her children and grandchildren as they competed on the courts, tracks and fields. She loved her family, and they knew her heart, loving her deeply in return.

Lanaya was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Annette and Vicki; brother, Brad.

She is survived by her daughter, Heidi Braun (Troy) of Colville, WA; son Walter "Dean"Hazeltine of Spokane, WA; 3 grandchildren, Chad, Slade and Jade; and several nieces and nephews.

A time of family gathering and reflection was held in the memory of Lanaya J. Hazeltine. Memorial contributions may be given to the Gamma Epsilon Sorority.
