ENRIGHT, Larry Neale (Age 83) Larry Neale Enright, age 83, a longtime resident of Colville, WA passed away on December 9, 2020 in Colville due to cancer. Larry was born on June 14, 1937 in St. Maries, ID the son of Earl Joseph and Grace Evelyn (Hughes). His early years began in Marcus moving then to Greenwood, WA, the St. Regis Mission (later know as the family farm) and graduating from Colville High School in 1956. Larry came from a working family, where his strong work ethic began working the farm and equipment at the age of six. He was also a strong athlete in high school. Larry then joined the U.S. Coast Guard where he began service on a weather station ship in the Pacific. He also served overseas in Vietnam stationed on a '95 Riverboat. While stationed in Seattle he met Carol Anne Matheson. They were married on August 28, 1964 and she remained in Seattle while he continued to serve in U.S. Coast Guard and Merchant Marines. Larry served on the USCGC Northwind a 390' Icebreaker where he traveled around the world. Work was difficult to find in Stevens County, so after his honorable discharge, Larry worked from Seattle on a Geonetix ocean survey ship in the Pacific and for a tug and barge company delivering fuel and supplies to the U.S. Airforce to the Bearing Sea and home (a six month round trip). He returned to Colville with his family where he found work as a equipment operator for the Van Stone Mine and then was hired at Boise. Larry drove their tug boats, trucks and heavy equipment for over decades and retired in 1999. All the while, he and Carol raised 80 head of cattle from their Highway 20 ranch they purchased in 1974. Carol preceded Larry in death on June 26, 2016. He remained on the ranch and was granted love a second time. Larry rekindled a love with his high school sweetheart, Sharon (Parker) Hill and they were wed on October 24, 2018. They have enjoyed life together on the ranch and at their summer lake home. They shared country drives, four-wheeleing, boating, fishing, huckleberry picking and even a trip to Maui where Larry was even seen wearing shorts and flip-flops! He especially enjoyed his horses and a quiet day's ride in the country was one of his favorite ways to spend time. He was a true cowboy and worked with horses and cattle on his ranch and others. He also rode horses for recreation and at local rodeos, led mule pack for an outfitter in the Pasayten Wilderness, drove a horse drawn wagon for the Sun Mountain Lodge and was a Cowboy Poet. Larry trained at the Missouri Auction School and he and Carol operated the Cross M Auction Company for many years. Larry helped to found the Old Timer Rodeo in Arden and was a local historian who loved to share his memory of who, where and when, throughout Stevens County. His memberships included the Arden Old Timers Rodeo Association, Steven County Cattleman's Association, American Legion, Washington Outfitters and Guide Association, Colville Eagles Aries #2797 and President of the Panorama Rodeo Association for 17 years and on the board of directors for several more. Larry was preceded in death by his first wife, Carol, his parents, Earl and Evelyn; and his brother, Denny.
