Leone BROWNING Obituary

BROWNING, Leone A. (Age 94) Leone Browning was born in Arapahoe, CO February 3, 1920 to Cleveland and Georgia Hunter. She was the youngest of seven children. Leone is survived by one of those siblings, Earl Hunter. In 1940, she married Earl Browning in a double wedding with her sister, Julia and Jack Braddock. The wedding was held in the little Nazarene Church in Harper, OR. This was the church where Leone accepted the Lord at age 11. Their only child, James Tilden Browning, was born to this couple in 1941. At age four, he developed diabetes. He passed away from the disease at age 42. After a 67 year marriage, Leone's husband, Earl preceded her in death March 19, 2008. She is survived by her grandson, James T. Browning and granddaughter, Jenelle Leach; three great- grandchildren Desiree Kimberly, James Browning III, Crystal Rosati and three great-great-grandchildren Bianca Breeze Browning, Cason Kimberly and Silas Rosati. Leone attended Northwest Nazarene College with her husband in Nampa, ID. Since he was studying for the ministry, she chose subjects that would help prepare her to be a pastor's wife. Some of those classes included piano teaching methods and creative writing and related subjects. Those studies proved to be a wise choice, since she taught private piano for 35 years and was often the church pianist. Her college studies in writing resulted in having over 350 stories published in over 50 magazines. Several of her short plays were also used by Lillenas Publishing. Most of her articles were about answered prayer and God's guidance throughout the many years of Earl's ministry. She was always by his side; helping in any way she could during the years he was a pastor. Earl liked to have her along when he visited members and people in the community. A highlight in her summers was acting as a counselor and director at the District Church Youth Camp. She loved to entertain and reach out to people in any way possible. Hundreds of people visited her as they asked for advice or special prayer. This activity continued throughout life. She always taught a Sunday school class for the youth, with whom she enjoyed many great activities such as drama, slumber parties, hiking, Christmas caroling, table games, lawn parties and any wholesome fun. Her Sunday school class attendance always broke the record. Earl enjoyed and backed her in every undertaking ---- even participating in good clean, fun pranks and some outstanding April Fool's jokes. Her grandchildren were a joyful part of her life. She and Earl felt it was such a blessing to have them visit or to babysit. Leone battled many illnesses, but she tried not to let it handicap her natural ability to love and minister to people. She loved life until the Lord took her home to be with her beloved Earl. The Spangle Community Church, 305 2nd St. will be the location for the Celebration of Life on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at 11:00 am.
