HOLMES, Lora (Gilliland)
November 17, 1961 - November 7, 2016
On November 7th., Lora left us and her body here on Earth to head to Heaven. She is now singing with the angels. A bit off key, but loud with enthusiasm. She is at peace. Lora was very artistic and could make anything whether clothes, a painting, or crafts look fabulous. She made friends easily and loved to tease and laugh. She loved to celebrate others successes and loved being teased about her freckles.
Lora was born in Bakersfield, CA. She lived in Sacramento and Oakland early on while growing up primarily in Moraga, CA. Having lived in the Bay Area of California most of her life she recently moved to Spokane, WA.
Lora leaves behind her parents, Betty and Merle Gilliland, her son and daughter-in-law, Tyler and Abigail Bettencourt, her daughter Katie and Katie's dad John, her sisters Lisa (Ethan) Furrie, Lynette (Mick) Donahue and her nephews and nieces, Tom, Wayne, Aimee, Deverie and Dave. She is also survived by many aunts and uncles.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 12, 11am at First Presbyterian Church in Spokane. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mission Community Outreach, Christ's Kitchen, or a charity of your choice.

I will always remember Lora as one of the "big kids" of the cabin group and although I haven't been to Northstar in over a year, the photo of her smiling in celebration as we completed the cabin is clear in my mind. May you find peace as you celebrate the best memories from her life. xo
