Hi Jennie, Layne and Gabe, I was terribly sorry to hear about your mom’s passing. What an absolutely wonderful person she was! As was your Dad! I have so many fond memories of them – and you kids -- from the time you all were in Tucson. It’s certainly not fair when the world’ best people live such short lives. I’ve heard through David that you three are getting on quite well. I’m pleased to hear that. My best wishes to all of you … and my sincerest condolences.

You were my favorite professor in college, Dr. Bownds. You were so good to me and I loved listening to you speak every week. It was so neat to see you at the Colbert 1/2 marathon in 2009 and I can't believe you remembered me from class!

Dear Jennie, Layne and Gabe, it's been so many years and i don't know where you all live so this rather impersonal greeting will have to do. I am so sorry to hear about your Mom. She and your Dad were really important people in my life, really best friends in the early years in AZ when you guys were little tykes. what a lovely lady she was: so friendly and warm, full of life and fun, and also "wise". Jim and i loved hanging out with you guys and I'll never forget the day Gabe "showed up". What a joy! I know our lives took a different path, mostly because of the geographical move but I will always be grateful for the great friendship and many wonderful times we had together. You probably all have your own families now. I know your Mom always delighted in all 3 of you -- she also taught me a few tricks in the mothering department (since i was such a greenhorn). I still have pictures from that time and probably also some old super 8 movies. Sending all my love and condolences, Dagmar (Cushing, in AZ) (520) 289-7588

I had the wonderful opportunity of having Dr. Bownds as an ecomonics professor at EWU back in 1999. She was brilliant and full of knowledge. I enjoyed her lectures. She will be deeply missed.

I feel privileged to have known Lynne Bownds. She fit right in to our Bloomsday Road Runners Club. She showed her determination in both finishing a running race and in her fight with cancer. With her broad background, she was always the most knowledgeable of the group in our post run, world problem solving, discussions over coffee at the Park Bench. I will definitely miss Lynne.
