Marie SHEPARD Obituary
July 3, 1960 - May 29, 2025
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Marie Shepard, who left us peacefully on May 29, 2025, at the age of 64. Marie fought bravely against an aggressive form of leukemia, Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML), but her spirit remained as strong and radiant as ever through her final moments.
Marie was a woman of remarkable strength, kindness, and grace. She spent the last 25 years of her life on the family farm in Cheney, WA, where she shared a life full of love with her devoted husband, Timm Shepard. Marie and Timm met on a blind date set up by friends after she came to the Cheney area to train one of her Lipizzan horses. Marie's passion for horses was a defining part of her life, and she found great joy and peace in the company of these beautiful creatures.
Born in the township of St Joseph de Beauce, Quebec, to Joseph and Gemma Boivin, Marie moved to Vancouver, BC, where she received her accounting degree from the University of British Columbia and later became a Chartered Accountant (CPA). Once Marie moved to Washington State, she continued her career as a CPA, first starting at Fruci & Associates in Spokane and then her own business at the family farm. This demonstrates how Marie embraced her new life and learned English fluently, showing her determination to adapt and thrive in all circumstances.
Over the years, Marie became a cherished part of her community, and many of her friends became like family to her. She had a warmth and generosity that drew people to her, and she always had a smile or a kind word for those around her. Marie was very open-minded, always seeking positive ways to enhance the lives of everyone. Marie fostered diverse perspectives, gaining knowledge about spiritual well-being, health, environment, and all aspects of life.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Pierre. She is survived by her loving husband, Timm Shepard; her two stepdaughters, Staci Diaz Duran (David) and Lisa Shepard (Jon); her beloved grandchildren (Raquel, David, and Gabriel); and a wide circle of dear friends, who she considered family. She also leaves behind many cousins in her native Quebec (Andree et Jean-Hugues), with whom she kept close ties despite the distance.
Marie's passing leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew her, but her legacy of love, strength, and kindness will live on. She was a fighter, never giving up in the face of illness, and she taught us all what it means to live with courage and grace. Though she is no longer with us, her spirit continues to shine brightly in the lives she touched.
The celebration of Marie's life will be held at the Wren Pierce Building 615 4th St, Cheney WA, Saturday, Sept 27th at 1130 am.
She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
