Marques MOLETT Obituary

February 1, 1980 - October 2, 2024

Marques Corey Molett was born February 1, 1980, in Spokane, Washington, to the late Robert E. Molett and E. Voncille Molett. He grew up in a loving and supportive family with his brother, Brandon R. Molett, and the many friends he and his brother brought home to spend the night and days with the Molett's. Marques was baptized at an early age and joined Bethel AME Church, Spokane, Washington. Marques attended Ferris High School, where he excelled in both academics and sports. He later graduated from Whitworth College in Spokane, Washington, with a degree in Elementary Education. Marques was a baseball and soccer star early on. Marques loved baseball. He played for Ferris High School, Walla Walla Community College, and Whitworth College. Marques was a member of the Select baseball team in Spokane, Washington.

Marques was an avid hunter and fisherman. He passed gun safety training at the age of ten. From wild hog hunting to turkey, duck, and pheasants, he was quite proficient and enjoyed time out with his dad, brother, and friends. Marques had a soft spot for his furry friend of 16 years, Gus (Gusty Wind), the hunter. Gus preceded Marques in death, and he is truly missed.

Marques met the love of his life, Stephanie, about five years ago at a BBQ set up by Tim Ike. Excited to start their new lives together, they became engaged in March 2024 at Riverfront Park in Spokane, Washington. Plans for their September 05, 2026, wedding were in full swing and almost complete. Marques and Stephanie enjoyed spending time fishing in Alaska for salmon on the Kenia, hog hunting in Corpus Christi, TX, and Goliad, TX, vacationing in Kauai, HI, for Christmas, and Spa Resorts in Puerto Vallarta.

Marques' infectious smile, kindness and joyful spirit touched the hearts of all who knew him. His genuine concern for others and his ability to bring people together will forever be cherished.

Marques leaves behind a legacy of love and positivity serving as a shining example of how one person can make a difference. His legacy is shown in how dedicated he was in his career as a Territory Sales Manager and DEI Ambassador Veterinary Sales PVC at Nestle' Purina North America. One of his notable recognitions was when he planned and hosted a group of New Zealand Veterinarians in Las Vegas, NV. Marques was known by teammates to be passionate about equality and raising visibility to those who may not have had a loud enough voice. He was known to hold team members to task and didn't mind pushing folks to embrace the uncomfortable. Marques earned awards and was recognized as a stellar employee.

Marques was preceded in death by his father, Mr. Robert E. Molett. He leaves to cherish his memory his mother, E. Voncille Molett; brother, Brandon R. Molett; fiancée, Stephanie Nelsen; and Marrin Teel; aunts, Ella Huffman and Darnell Rowell; uncles, Charles E. Huffman, Pete Rowell, and Julius C. White; a host of special cousins, Charles Huffman Jr., Christopher Huffman, Ellis Johnson, Frederick Rowell, Stephania Toney, Chawn White, Courtney White, Dierdra White Frederick, and Andrea Vaughn; and those adopted into the family, Marcus Trotter, Aarin Hare, Tyrone Horton, Tim Ike, Tyler Stanek, Walter Poole, Nick Donner, and Jeremey Williams. There are a host of friends from school, college, his careers, hunting, fishing, and those who rode the "little pink bus," in Las Vegas, too many to mention.

You will be missed, my son.

As long as there are memories, you will live on.

Every time I walk by Jenni's Gooey ButterCake ice cream, it reminds me of Marques introducing me to the real cake when I had the pleasure of touring the Purina campus in St Louis. We each snuck some back to our rooms for after dinner. It was the best idea ever! He always had a way of finding the fun in any situation. Sure do miss your smile my friend.

I’m so sorry for the belated condolences. I just heard the heartbreaking news and felt compelled to reach out.
I worked with Marques at Purina and we shared success, frustration, and perseverance. He was steadfast in his commitment to his career and always brought kindness into any meeting.

I was blessed to have been able to get to know Marques through the course of work. I am a new practice manger of a small veterinary hospital in Las Vegas and he was a new territory rep for Purina. He had such an infectious and bright energy about him and we had great conversations about the path of veterinary medicine, lack of diversity in our fields and he was genuinely a wonderful soul. All of the staff at Oasis Animal Hospital were shocked and deeply saddened wlby the phone call his mother took the time to make and our lives were forever changed by his passing. We sincerely were blessed by his friendship and comradery and extend our deepest condolences to his fiancee and his family. He made a difference in our world.

Marques was a bright star in a sometimes-dark world. He had a personality that many would strive to be like and was a great leader by example. Always eager to help and assist anyone in need and also have to say that he had that infectious smile that would turn anyone's bad day into a positive. My sincere condolences on your loss to an amazing person who is not only my co-worker, but also someone I called a friend. God's blessings to everyone.

I had the pleasure of meeting and getting to know Marques about 4 years ago as I joined our team at Purina then. He was always down to earth, thoughtful and filled with laughter! The memories I have of him hold a very special place in my heart. I send all my strength & warmth to Marques´s family and close friends. I will miss him dearly. May he rest in peace.

I had the pleasure of knowing Marques for only this past year. His infectious smile and great attitude about life always lifted me up when I was feeling discouraged. We had the opportunity to spend some time together at Negotiation training - where we enjoyed discussing what we were learning - but what I remember most about that trip was his love of good BBQ. (And what a great guide he was in helping a BBQ newbie choose well from the menu!) I can only imagine how profoundly his loss is being felt by his family and close friends as I, a mere acquaintance, will miss him dearly. My sincere condolences to all who morn his loss and celebrate his life.

I was fortunate to attend a sales training in St. Louis, where I got to meet Marques and then crossed paths afterwards at national sales meetings. What I will remember about him the most were his infectious smile, positive attitude and outgoing personality.

Wishing Marques' family comfort during this incredibly difficult time. You certainly left a positive impact on those you came in contact with and will be deeply missed...

My deepest condolences to Marques' family and friends. I met him via our Purina national sales gatherings, and he was always a friendly and happy soul. We shared stories of hunting and fishing and what was working, or not working, in our respective territories. He had a quick wit and a ready smile, he was an easy person to like. Rest well friend.

I only knew Marques for a few years. Met him through working with him at Cabelas he was hired on as my new boss everyone in the department hit it off with him right away. He had a way of walking in to the department and a bad day a great day. When ever I was having a hard day Marques would say bring it in buddy. And gave me a big hug and say it's not that bad. I will definitely miss him. Until we meet again buddy! {Bring it in}

To Marques Loved Ones:

I remember him when we first met, when he was still in middle school. I believe I was dropping off Brandon off at home (His freshman year) with my younger brother Leon. I remember him being short for his height, when we first met. He was a very energetic and confident teen. I remember how he boasted how great he was in baseball, and all.

I am sorry for your loss and offering prayers to all.

I looked at Marques as a big brother. He was there for me through so many big moments in life, good and bad. The hours we would spend laughing at all my shenanigans will be in my heart forever. Marques carried a light in him that shone so bright, through his smile, his sarcastic humor, his constant desire to help those around him. He leaves this world a brighter place than it was before he came. I´ll miss you so much M. Rest in peace.
