MaryAnn Thompson Obituary

THOMPSON, MaryAnn (Orvis) Passed away August 16,2009. She was born in Slayton, Minnesota on April 18, 1931 to Clara and Ollie Orvis. The family moved to Spokane in the early 1940s. She married DonThompson in 1952 and raised their family in north Spokane, eventually moving to Deer Park. MaryAnn enjoyed spend- ing time with her family and friends - and her grandchildren were her pride and joy! She attended Salem Lutheran Church while living in Spokane and Zion Lutheran Church in Deer Park. She was active in both churches, and especially enjoyed singing in the choirs. She was preceded in death by her daughter Kim and husband Don. She is survived by her four children, Rich (Leah) Thompson, Kay Yoke, Bryan (Janet) Thompson and Bill (Verlie) Thompson; nine grandchildren, Erik (Kristy) Thompson, Devin (Liz) Thompson, Jessie (Allan) Simmons, Stephanie (Mike) Steinman, Julia (Troy) Gilcrist-Yoke, Melissa (Jon) Pemberton, Travis (Denise) Franz, Ryan and Jeffrey Thompson; and seven great-grandchildren. Also her sister Linda (Richard) Reed, brothers Earl Orvis, Don (Judy) Orvis and Frank(Marion) Orvis, along with a dear sister-in-law Lois Thompson, and Aunt Ruth Orvis, plus numerous nieces and nephews. Thank you to Guardian Angel Homes for the wonderful care they gave toMaryAnn the last few months of her life. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Eastern Washington Alzheimer's Memory Walk "Walking for MaryAnn" Team @ easternwashingtonmemorywalk.kintera.org/kayyoke, the Susan G. Koman Foundation for Breast Cancer, or to the March of Dimes. Family graveside service will be held at noon on September 12, 2009 at Fairmount Memorial Park, followed by a Memorial service for all friends and family at 2:00 pm at Zion Lutheran Church in Deer Park, WA.
