Maurice CARRIER Obituary
Maurice (Maury to his golfing buddies) was born in Rumford, Maine, to Joseph and Yvonne Carrier and passed away, aged 92, in Spokane.
After graduating from Rumford High School and a brief stint working in the local paper mill, he enlisted in the USAF, proudly serving his country for 22 years. One of his favorite duty stations was England, where he met, and was happily married for 68 years to his wife, Jean.
Following his USAF retirement from Fairchild AFB as a MSgt, he attended Spokane Community College, graduating with an associate degree as a Master Electronics Technician. He worked 18 years at School District 81, retiring for good in 1973, to enjoy a little fishing and lots of golf; playing and watching it on TV. He and Jean enjoyed the outdoors, golfing, hiking, cross-country skiing, and yard work, Maury the lawn and Jean the flower and vegetable beds. He enjoyed history, reading, and was a great storyteller, being sure not to omit the smallest detail.
There was always time to travel, ocean and river cruises, land tours in Europe, and visits to the UK. A favorite was a cruise along the coast of Norway, with 34 port calls, and crossing the Arctic Circle.
Maurice was predeceased by his parents, and sister, Anita Murphy. Survived by his loving wife, Jean; beloved sisters, Lucille Mount (Henry) and Mona Dryer; a special nephew, David Mount (Laura) and his sons, Connor Mount (Maddy) and Alek Mount; plus, a large family of loved nieces, nephews, grand, great-grand, and great-great-grandnieces and nephews, on both US coasts and in the UK.
Funeral Mass at St. Augustine's, 428 W. 19th Ave., Spokane, WA, on Thursday, May 1st, at 10:00 AM. Reception to follow in Parish Hall. A private family inurnment with full military honors will be held at the Veterans Cemetery, Medical Lake.
If desired, please consider memorials to Wounded Warrior Project, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, or the Spokane Humane Society for a life lived long and well.
