Michael TYSOR Obituary
TYSOR,
Michael
"Mike"
(Age 39)
Passed away July 5, 2016, in Spokane, WA. He was born in Davenport, Wash-ington to parents Kenneth and Beatrice Tysor.
At age eight the family moved to Spokane, where Mike attended Brentwood Elementary and Northwood Junior High Schools. His Mead High School career included lettering in Wrestling, Track and Cross Country.
Michael was confirmed at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Spokane. He was a spiritual person and had a strong faith. He now rests in God's hands.
After high school Michael attended Washington State University in Pullman, earning a Bachelors degree. After graduation he moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan to work in a research lab at the University of Michigan Medical School. While there he worked on projects related to stem cell research, Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases, as well as conducting studies in sleep research.
He later attended the University of Illinois Graduate School of Business and obtained an MBA degree in Marketing and Finance. While at the U of I he became a Project Manager for Illinois Business Consulting. He also worked for Fifth Third Bank and the US General Services Administration.
More recently, he moved to Spokane, Washington, to become Area Support Manager for the UPS Stores in Eastern Washington, where he served for several years.
Mike loved people. His exuberant personality and humble demeaner won over strangers wherever he went. His quirky humor sometimes surprised and often delighted those who did not know him.
Music was a passion throughout his life. He played the violin since age four. He picked up guitar and drums in later years and formed a band with fellow aficionados.
He was an athlete. In recent years he discovered Triathlon, which became a passion and he became nationally ranked. Mike always loved to work out and in his later years became a virtual fixture at the North Spokane YMCA with some people wondering if he lived there.
His passions included volunteering for Holy Family Hospital and the Spokane Humane Society. At the Humane Society he liked to handle the biggest, baddest dogs. Of course, Mike loved all dogs, big and small.
He was a gourmet cook. He had a wide repertoire and enjoyed experimenting with cuisines of various cultures.
Mike is survived by parents Ken and Bea Tysor; a brother, Matthew; a nephew, Aidan; an uncle, Rick Tysor---all of Spokane, as well as a grandfather, Romeo Santos of San Antonio, TX, and many more aunts, uncles and cousins and great-aunts, uncles and cousins in Washington, Idaho, Kansas and Texas, as well as the US Military.
A Celebration of Life service and reception will be held at Hennessey Funeral Home, 2203 N. Division Street, Spokane, WA on Saturday, July 23rd at 1:00pm. His ashes will be scattered by family at a later time.
