Patricia CONRATH Obituary

September 11, 1926 - December 16, 2023

It is with great sadness to announce that our sweet Mother & Grandmother passed away peacefully on Saturday afternoon – December 16th.

Patricia Ruth was born in St. Maries, Idaho, on September 11, 1926, to William E. Clute and Laurina Clute (Larson). She was one of seven children and the family lived in Emida, Idaho, for ten years before moving to Cheney, Washington, in 1936, where she resided until her death. Patricia Ruth went through school in Cheney, then married Bert Herman Conrath on July 25, 1948.

Pat and Bert had three children who survived them: Becky Ann Marsh (John) of Cheney, Washington, Phillip Bert (Kathy) of Cheney, Washington and William Allen (Vara Lyn) of Cheney, Washington, nine grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Pat led an active life; she taught cake decorating for adult education at Spokane Community College as well as organized countless weddings and made wedding, birthday and retirement cakes for all family and friends as well as others in the community. She worked at Chet's Flowers and Sunset Florist as a floral designer.

Pat had an immense love of all sports, bowling, golf, tennis, softball, horseshoes and basketball, so competitive that she would never let any of her grandkids beat her at ping-pong or pool. Pat was an artist who loved to do crafts and painting for her Emmanuel Lutheran Church, as well as designing floats for the Lilac Parade, of which she won trophies for them.

Pat's first love was her family, she and Bert had been married 67 years. They took cruises to Europe, the Panama Canal and the Bahamas as well as numerous trips to Hawaii and others around the country. Pat was a charter member of the Fairways Golf Course, as well as a member of Alpha Phi of Beta Sigma Phi, Diakonia, Beta lunch bunch and a longtime member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Cheney.

Pat was preceded in death by her husband Bert in 2014, her parents, brothers Allen (Smith), Bill and George, sisters; Martha Vaughan, Betty Vigue and Donna Rice and her baby son Errington.

Services will be held at 2:00pm on Monday, January 8th at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 625 C. Street, Cheney, WA 99004 with interment following for family at the Washington State Veteran's Memorial Cemetary in Medical Lake.

We would like to express our sincere thanks to Hospice of Spokane, their services were invaluable and very appreciated.
