Patrick STOOKEY Obituary

Our beautiful son, grandson, brother, nephew, cousin, co-worker, and friend, Patrick Michael Stookey, left us on January 11, 2025, and our hearts are broken. Pat was born on July 2, 1978, at Deaconess Hospital in Spokane to his parents, Jim and Marlene Stookey. He was a beautiful baby boy, with blonde hair, blue eyes, rosy cheeks and a wonderful smile. Pat was named after his uncle, Pat Stookey, who passed away young also. Pat came home to Greenacres, WA, to join his two older brothers, Jay and Casey. The family moved to Otis Orchards in 1979, and the family was completed with the birth of his sister, Tricia, in 1980. Pat grew up in Otis Orchards and had a large extended family with 21 cousins. As a boy, Pat developed a love of sports, and he followed in his brothers' footsteps. He participated in SYSA Soccer and Spokane Valley Baseball. He also played for the Spokane Valley Express Soccer Club and played Junior and Senior American Legion Baseball. Pat also loved spending time at the Pend Orielle River with his cousin, Kyle, where Woodchuck and Grey Squirrel had many adventures. Pat attended Otis Orchards Elementary, Mountain View Middle School and East Valley High School. Pat graduated with the class of 1996. Pat played two years of varsity baseball as the Knights' second baseman. As a junior, along with his brother and cousin, they were Frontier League Champs and came within one game of the state baseball playoffs. As a senior Pat was selected to play in the All-State Baseball Feeder game. After high school, Pat attended SFCC for one year and then entered the world of work. During this time, Pat taught himself to play the bass guitar, and he became an accomplished bass player. Pat played with the bands: Riverside, High Centered, Level and Takeover, performing at many venues. Pat worked for many years in construction. He was an operator and Foreman for M&L Construction and spent the last year as a foreman for Steve Ruhnke Construction where Don, his boss, described him as their best worker. Pat loved his nieces and nephews: Tatum, Paxton, Huck, Jovie, Piper and Quinn. They called him Uncle Pat Pat, and he loved that. Pat also loved his sisters-in-law, Lisa and Susie; and his brother-in-law, Aaron. He also loved his many cousins and his aunts and uncles. Pat is survived by his parents, Jim and Marlene Stookey; two brothers, Jay (Lisa) Stookey and Casey (Susie) Stookey; one sister, Tricia (Aaron) Bilesky; four nieces, Tatum, Jovie, Piper and Quinn; two nephews, Paxton and Huck. Pat was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Patty and Rosie; his grandfathers, Don and Bobaloo; and his uncle, Pat. Pat bought a home in 2021, and he took much pride in being a homeowner. He was a constant shopper, buying many lamps, area rugs and curtains. He also loved tools and had a well-stocked tool chest and shop. Pat became a dog dad when he got Dolly, an English Mastiff. He loved and cared for her and worried about her when he was at work. Pat had some personal struggles in his life, but it never diminished his love for his family or our love for him. We love and miss you Pat Pat. A Funeral Mass for Pat will be celebrated on February 22, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 4521 N. Arden Road, Otis Orchards, WA. A celebration of Pat's life will follow in the church hall after Mass. To share condolences with the family, visit www.hennesseyvalley.com.

I'm so sorry to hear of Pat's passing. It's been years since I even talked to Pat but I'll never forget his hilarious presence in the summers we shared playing baseball. God bless. I'm sorry for your loss, Stookey family.
