Paul EDENS Obituary

EDENS,
Paul D.
(Age 56)

Paul D. Edens, passed away on Saturday, February 4, 2017 in Melbourne, FL. He was born June 6, 1960 in Seattle, Washington.
Paul graduated from North Central High School, Spokane, WA. He traveled to Texas where he worked as a framer then joined the Army for a brief time receiving an honorable discharge. Back in Spokane, while working as a Parts Puller for Uncle Jim's wrecking, he began serving as a Volunteer Fireman in Mead, WA and obtained his EMT certification. From there he went to work for Arrow Ambulance in Coeur d'Alene, ID., then on to Spokane Ambulance. All the while taking test pursuing his dream of becoming a paid Firefighter and going through school to become a Paramedic. He realized his dream of a paid Firefighter/Paramedic with being hired on the Richland Fire Department. Not wanting to uproot his family he drove back and forth from Chattaroy for a year and was able to secure a position with the Spokane Fire Department achieving the rank of Lieutenant before retiring. He always referred to the Fire Department as "the best job in the world". Paul loved being part of the Fire Department Family. After retirement, he fulfilled another dream of returning to his childhood home of Melbourne, Florida, where he lived the last six years of his life.
Paul loved a practical joke. He loved to laugh and would laugh with you as well as at you. If you could get a joke over on him your status went up in his eyes. He was mischievous up until the end. A die-hard Seahawks fan, one year he mailed his Jersey in to the coach to express his dissatisfaction with the teams performance.
Paul was an excellent provider for his family. He was a jack of all trades accomplishing anything he set his mind to. Mechanic, carpenter, Boy Scout leader, diver, horseman (sort of). He loved adventure and to experience new things. In the words of one of his daughters: "You were strong. Another measure of creative. A leader. When you had a dream, you chased it until it was reality. You loved well, in the very best way you knew how." Paul is and will continue to be missed by many.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Harold "Sarge" and Carolyn Edens; brothers Danny and Darrel Edens. He is survived by his children: Shayna (Josh) Huff, Spokane, WA, Mark (Andrea) Edens, Sante Fe, NM, Marie (Brendan) Findlay, Melbourne, Australia; siblings: Cara Lee Edens, Jerry (Jill) Edens, Dean (Ute) Edens, Caryn Edens (Bryan Loun); mother of his children, Jayne Edens; grandchildren: Isabel, Violet, Joshua Jr., Santiago and Andreas; numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project of which Paul was an avid supporter.
Pauls life will be celebrated on Friday, August 18th at 10:30am, Chattaroy Community Church, Chattaroy, WA.

Worked with Paul off and on for years. He enjoyed the challenging calls, and especially the crazy ones. He always had a smile on his face when I'd see him and loved putting out a good "rumor".
Paul enjoyed his job and his relationship with his coworkers and with his family. he talked proudly of his kids. Paul is missed. Gone too soon.
