Pete Weitz was a friend to me, a mentor, an inspiration, my Chemistry teacher in my junior year at LC hi. Through him I got the confidence needed to go on to a degree in Chem at UW. And that got me into med school and a wonderful, rewarding subspecialty 35yr career taking care of critically ill folks in the ICU. Even now, in my second career as full time studio wood artist, I have recently been benefitting from hi school chemistry experiments in electrical charges across battery terminals allowing copper plating of objects that I turn into jewelry. Thanks, Dr Weitz. See you soon.

Dr. Weitz was my favorite hi school teacher. I got A’s in chemistry because of his guidance and inspiration. I graduated from UW with a Chemistry Degree and that helped me get to med school and a 35yr career in critical care medicine. Thank you Dr. Weitz.

"Quickly, like rabbits!" I can hear Mr. Weitz now, trying to get us to take our seats for our chemistry class. He was such an excellent and fun teacher. After junior chemistry at LC, my freshman chemistry class at the UW was a breeze! My twin sons, who are now taking junior chemistry at their high school, look at me like I'm crazy when I tell that chemistry is just so cool and I can't understand why they don't love it. I wish their teacher could channel Mr. Weitz.

What a guy, great neighbor and friend as well as mentor to hundreds of young men that he coached in baseball..he not only taught baseball skills, but life lessons and many great men were molded because of him. Both of my children were blessed to have him in Chemistry..truly one of a kind. Condolences to Nancy and the rest of his family.

One of the most memorable teachers at LC. I'm sure you were why I loved organic chem so much at college. Thoughts and prayers to your family.

Well pop. I'm here and your not. Just would like to thank you for making me the man I am. You taught me e everything you could. Sure I didn't listen a few times. But I learned from it. Why is there never enough time to do it right the first time but always enough time to do it right the second time? You leave behind a loving wife of 30 years. Nancy Weitz. Me and Peter Dean Weitz. Who have been stuck in the mountains more then once. Andreah weitz . Who loved you and respected you more than anyone. Kasey Diane Weitz and Andrey Nancy Marie Weitz who love and miss their Papa.Someday we will all meet up in the great "Kingdom" and be a family once again!

What a Chemistry teacher – inspiring and fun as well! It is especially meaningful to me since his daughter was a student of mine. Know he will be missed.

Mr. Weitz truly knew how to inspire his students. He was one of the first teachers I had when I transferred into LC. I was terrified and he made the whole experience fun and interesting. He gave a great deal of himself to his students and his work. His family was truly blessed to have such a father, husband friend. I am a better person for having known him.

One of three teachers from my entire high school career that I remember. You were the best Mr. Weitz! To this day my children are frequently prompted with "Quick like a bunny!" Love, love, loved learning from this man. It was a joy to be in his class. Never thought I would cry over the loss of a teacher I haven't seen in 20 years. Thank you for everything you gave us.

Legendary and unforgettable. It's been decades but I remember his chemistry class like it was yesterday. R.I.P. Pete Weitz.

What more can be said about the man than he cared for kids and passionately educated in everything he did? When they carve the Mt. Rushmore of LC Tigers, Pete will be one of the first faces chiseled. One of a generation of truly outstanding and inspiring educators quickly leaving us. My life would be dramatically different without their influence. Condolences to all those mourning his loss.
