Rainy SQUIRES Obituary

October 23, 1995 - July 24, 2025

Spokane - Rainy Baby Love Squires (Greywater)

Rainy was born in Lame Deer, Montana, on October 23rd, 1995. He was a descendent of Geronimo and born into the Northern Cheyanne and Turtle Mountain Chippewa Tribes. He spent many of his young years on the reservation, and Arlee, Montana, later moving to Missoula, at age 13, to attend Big Sky High School, where he graduated in 2014. There he won poetry awards, sang and participated in dance. He made Spokane, Washington his home in 2016 and married Kevin Squires on October 13th, 2018.

Rainy was a lover of Hufflepuff and Harry Potter, Rocky Horror, Drag shows, Ariana Grande, Cardi B and Chappell Roan. Rainy loved Yu-gi-oh and Pokemon, and loved to get lost in the fantasy world of being a wizard in Harry Potter Hogwarts Legacy. He was a Divas addict and played WWE Wrestling on the PS5 to wind down. He loved horror movies, serial killer shows, documentaries and Orange is the New Black. He loved to dance, socialize at multiple establishments around the Spokane area and never turned down a good brunch.

Rainy was the heart of Deaconess Hospital. Beginning as a housekeeper, he later became a CNA, where he found his true passion of patient care. He pursued his dream of becoming a nurse and graduated as an RN from Spokane Community College in August 2024, during which he was President of the nursing club and worked as a nurse tech. He accomplished his life goal, becoming Rainy, RN and joined the surgical floor. His patients loved him and the care he gave, which showed, as he received two Daisy awards in less than a year. No matter what job you had in the hospital, Rainy knew who you were. He would roam the floors, chatting with coworkers far and wide. Even though Rainy would want to quit every day because "this place is trash," he truly loved his job. Deaconess will never quite be the same without him.

Rainy was one of the purest, truest friends that one could have. He would tell you exactly how he felt, if he approved of your outfit or not, and always greet you with a flip of your ponytail. His unfiltered self and phrases would make you laugh for hours. Only Rainy could read you to filth and at the end of the conversation it was you telling him how much you loved him. He brightened up every single room he walked into, he brought the energy, the drama, the SASS. He was the queen of sending people reels. Rainy loved to meet new people and make new friends, making people feel cared for from the start. He provided a once in a lifetime friendship for so many people. He was a bright light that could never be dimmed.

Rainy passed away in Spokane, Washington, on July 24th, 2025. He is survived by his two babies, Alaska and Yvie; countless friends who he made his chosen family; multiple relatives who loved him deeply; and his husband, Kevin. He will forever be a member of Hufflepuff and the Pink Pony Club.

Please join us for Rainy's Celebration of Life on Sunday, August 24th, at Timber Run Reserve, located at 822 N. Government Way, Spokane, Washington 99224. We will miss you Rainy, you were such a bright light in this world. I loved working with you at Deaconess and we were good friends from the start. I loved having you move in and be a roomie for a few months with Alaska and will never forget our time together. You will be missed babes, save a place up there for me.

I know we were never super close, but Rainy was truly a magnificent individual. He brought laughs and lighthearted joy with him everywhere he went - including to the trivia nights we used to see one another at. He truly was a special soul who touched the hearts of so many and the world will be much more dull now that he is no longer sharing his light with all of us. My heart goes out to his close friends and family and all the others who loved and cherished him so dearly

I didn´t know Rainy, but coming from Lame Deer in the heart of the Northern Cheyenne Indian Reservation is humbling enough! I too grew up in the heart of the Crow Indian Reservation at Lodge Grass. I am so sorry for your loss, keeping you and all his family in Prayers! Be encouraged and empowered by his spirit and strength!

I have quite literally never read an obituary more perfectly written and accurate of any one person in all my life. If I did not know Rainy personally and know all those things to be true, this obituary would certainly have made me sad to have not met this legend in person.
