Reginald HAHN Obituary

HAHN,
Reginald Dennis "Reg"

Reg was born November 13, 1942, in Okanogan, WA,
the first son of Dennis P. and Ruth (Anderson) Hahn. He passed away February 2, 2018, in Mount Vernon, WA
after a lengthy illness.
Reg's family moved to Spokane in 1951, where he attended Field Elementary and Shadle Park High School, graduating in 1961. He had the enviable good luck of growing up with parents who owned the Garland Toy Shop, Spokane's only exclusive toy store at the time. He attended UW, WSU, and EWSU, graduating from the U. of Western Florida, Pensacola. He was a firefighter with the Bureau of Land Management for several summers serving in Alaska, Washington, and other western states. Reg served in the National Guard and was trained in Texas where he met Catherine Whitcomb. They married in 1969, and made their home in Iowa City, Iowa where Reg served as a financial planner for Ameriprise. He returned to the Northwest in 1992, settling down in Mount Vernon where he continued working with Ameriprise, retiring in 2009.
He reconnected with his high school sweetheart, Sandi Sefton Lowder and they were married in 1997. He and Sandi were vendors at the Mount Vernon Farmers Market for 18+ years. Reg was an expert gardener and loved few things more than turning soil and harvesting organic vegetables, fruit and flowers. Reg walked regularly, exercised and meditated, and loved trying new ethnic foods. The Skagit Valley Co-op was his favorite hangout.
Reg is survived by his wife of 20 years, Sandi, his brother Roger (Mary Joan) of Spokane, stepsons Greg (Cathy) and Jason (Monika)
Lowder, nephew Ian and niece Lauren and numerous cousins.
A celebration of Reg's life is planned for March 25th, 2-5pm at the family home in Mount Vernon.
