Robert DUNNING Obituary

January 18, 1931 – September 19, 2025

Bob Dunning passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side. Well into his 90s, Bob was known for his sharp wit, curiosity, and his endless supply of interesting facts. He could tell you that Ponderosa Pines smell like vanilla, that cussing is scientifically proven to be therapeutic, and that you should never give people 100%. His philosophy: give 60% most days, 80% on good days and when you feel like giving 100%, it will feel like you're giving120%.

Bob was a Veteran, chemist, guitarist, and lifelong learner of the Spanish and Russian languages, so much so that his family often joked he might secretly be a spy. He was a longtime member of the Spokane Symphony Chorale and active with the Union Gospel Mission, Boy Scouts, and YMCA racquetball community.

He is survived by his son, Michael (Ellen) Dunning; and daughters, Patti (Ken) Baird, Jan Johnson, and Teresa (Kent) Henderson. He will be missed by his many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Annie; and brother, Charles.

A graveside service will be held for family on October 15, 2025.
