Robert PALLETT Obituary

Robert G. Pallett was born on December 31, 1939, in Lewistown, Montana to Helen and Clifford Pallett. He grew up in Spokane and attended Lewis and Clark High School. In 1957, he married Barbara Sawtells, and their daughter Bonnie was born in 1958. Their marriage was brief, and in 1961 Bob married Florence Johnson of Ronan, Montana. They had two children, Kelly and Steven. Florence passed away in 2017 following a long illness during which Bob lovingly cared for her. Bob met Rosemarie Newkirk in 2019 and found a loving companion for his final years.

Bob was very hardworking and conscientious. He did a variety of jobs as a young adult. He enlisted in the National Guard and served from 1959-1963. In 1961, Bob joined his father in business. Pallett Motors became a successful family business, starting with selling used cars, known to be the cleanest and nicest in the Valley, to recreational vehicles, and then to truck canopies and accessories. Eventually, his mother Helen joined the family business. During this time, Bob worked for Glasstite as a west coast representative, traveling and making new friends wherever he went. After Bob's parents retired, his wife Florence took Helen's place and Florence and Bob made Pallett Toppers their own. Throughout his career, Bob worked hard to make sure his employees and customers felt like family.

Many knew Bob to be loyal, kind, jovial, and generous. He was also very artistic and creative. He was able to envision how to use what he had to fix whatever needed to be improved. Those skills served him well. In 1983, he and Florence purchased a small cabin on the south end of Coeur d'Alene Lake. They loved "the lake", situated across from Harrison, Idaho, where Bob had spent so much time as a child. Although Bob and Florence worked 6 days a week, they created a wonderful family get-away that was enjoyed for 38 years. Bob's favorite times were spent there with friends and family.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents Cliff and Helen Pallett, and his loving wife Florence. He is survived by his wife Rosie, sister Kathy Emery, and brother Richard "Dick" Pallett, daughters Bonnie Reyes and Kelly Peretti and her husband Todd Peretti, and son Steve Pallett. He also leaves behind grandchildren Danni Reyes Smith and husband Les, Jessica Peretti and husband Matthew Pollock, Kristina Peretti, Chris Peretti, Melody Pallett, and Letitia Pallett, and one great-grandson Oliver Smith.

We wish to thank the nurses and staff at Hospice of North Idaho and the Schneidmiller House for their loving care of Dad in his final days. They are amazing people, and we are forever grateful to them.
