SENEY, Robert J.

Robert J. Seney was born April 5th 1920 to Byron and Sarah (Sadie) Seney of Dayton WA, and he passed away April 9th at his home in Walla Walla still celebrating his 91st birthday. Robert was father to Sandra Mansfield of Spokane, Sharril Torres of Port Angeles, and Van Seney of Starbuck. He was grandfather to seven and great grandfather to 12.
Bob was a graduate of Dayton High School, a veteran of World War II, a graduate of San Francisco Mortuary College and a Golden Graduate from Washington State University. He worked a number of years for General Mills before returning to the family farm on Smith Hollow north of Dayton.
Bob was a 32nd degree Mason and was also a member of the El Katif Shrine. He was a past president of the Dayton Days Association and served on the Dayton Search and Rescue Team. Bob was manager of Columbia Empire Polled Hereford Association and was an active member of the American Polled Hereford Association. And, he was also a long time member of the Congregational Church of Dayton.
Bob's third wife Marjean Henry preceded him in death in January of 2008. They had been married 32 years. Marion Oliver preceded him in death from heart surgery. Lurline Griffin was the mother of his three children and was married to Bob for twenty five years.
When asked about his life Bob said; "The most successful years of my life were the years working for General Mills in their Larro Feed Division and my work with the Polled Hereford Association. The most delightful times in my life were those when I was fishing and working in my yard. The most rewarding times in my life were the 12 years volunteering at Eisenhower Medical Center. And, the best day of my life was being baptized in the Jordan River."
The family extends a special thanks to Carolyn Criss and Tammy Rodriquez whose compassionate care and home management allowed our Dad his wish to stay in his home until his passing. It was here where he enjoyed his neighbors, worked in his shop and green house, played with his dog and seriously considered many fishing invitations. Our family also thanks the Meals on Wheels program of Walla Walla, and his great neighbors.
In respecting Bob's wishes there will not be a memorial service. His ashes will be interred at a family plot at a later date.
