Roy LANGLITZ Obituary

Roy Langlitz departed this earth on January 17, 2023, to join the love of his life Vera, who preceded him in death in 2007.

Roy was born March 12, 1933, to Henry and Margarite Langlitz, the 2nd of 5 children. Upon completion of high school Roy joined the Navy, serving aboard the USS John R Pierce during the Korean war. Roy was proud to be an American and a Veteran. He hosted several flag dedication ceremonies on his property and he had begun construction of a Veteran's memorial. Roy truly revered all those who currently serve and have served our great country.

Roy and Vera married in 1954. They were happily married for 53 years until Vera's passing in August 2007. They are survived by 4 children, 12 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.

The first job Roy took after the Navy was with Heller Helicopter. This career lasted just long enough to save the money needed to start his first of many successful business ventures. His early businesses were founded in California varying in location from the Bay Area to the Sierras in northern California. He owned everything from gas stations, towing services, a motel, and a sporting goods store. One of the last ventures he was involved with in California was in the construction business. His construction partner ultimately moved to Idaho, convincing Roy that this move would be good for him as well.

After building homes in north Idaho for a few years, Roy partnered with longtime friend, Gary Woodson, and started a successful truck stop business. His success here gave him the opportunity to buy some acreage and start what became a decades-long grand adventure of finding, buying, fixing, and on rare occasions selling classic cars. He loved attending and hosting car shows and sharing his passion for all things Chevy (and a few others)! This car "hobby" allowed Roy to stay constantly busy and have the freedom to choose how and where he spent his time.

Anytime Roy met someone new, he would befriend them almost immediately. He was always welcoming to everyone, and he had an uncanny ability to remember names and key aspects of people's lives. He truly loved the time spent with family and friends.

Throughout his life, Roy was dedicated to his family and vast array of friends. Our world will miss the vast knowledge and expertise Roy brought to the classic car world through his hard work and dedication to the trade.

Roy's extended family mourns the loss of their patriarch. May he rest in peace with the knowledge that he was loved by so many!

A memorial service will be held on Thurs. Feb. 2, 2023, at 11:00 am at English Funeral Chapel, 1133 N. 4th St., Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.

Roy.... I know in my heart I´ll always be your daughter. You made sure to tell me every time you saw me and made sure those around knew it too! Rest your weary mind and heart as your job here is done. Whatever happens now is up to those you left behind. I´ll assume as you watch down... you´ll remind us all to live big, smile wide, find strength to forgive and remember the moment we are in is the only one guaranteed! My brother Matthew said it best...we learned so much from you and knew we meant something to you as you taught us. I am blessed to have two of your oldest, beautiful granddaughters and one of your youngest great grandsons that I know you loved so much. Your new chapter begins... enjoy this one. I´ll miss you Papa Roy! Love, Kathy Moreau
