Ruby WITHAM Obituary

WITHAM,
Ruby G.
(Age 96)

Ruby was born October 18, 1921 in Millwood, WA to Fred C. and Etta M. Woodward. She attended Millwood Grade School and graduated in 1940 from West Valley High School. She had a special set of friends through grade school and graduation that remained close through their entire lives. In 1942, she married Lloyd E. Witham. They celebrated 60 years together, enjoying their children and extended families. When grandchildren came, the good times expanded to camping, riding mini bikes and snowmobiling. Ruby was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was proud of her roses and flower garden. Ruby was a wonderful neighbor, living her 96 years in the same Millwood neighborhood. She supported her town by serving on the City Council and volunteering for West Valley S.C.O.P.E. She also volunteered many years at the Valley Food Bank with her husband and sister. She was also the consummate scrapbooker and spent hours filling her books with everything pertaining to her family, friends and anything happening in Millwood. She also collected articles on all West Valley alumni.
Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd, in 2002; her parents; her brothers, George and Floyd Woodward; and her sister, Hazel Anderson. She is survived by her loving sister, Bernice Gibson; her daughter, Barbara (James) Bennett; her son, Leroy (Elizabeth) Witham all of the Spokane Valley; her grandchildren, Chris (Kristy) Bennett, Teresa (Michael) Harrod, Todd (Julie) Witham and Tracy (Mitch) Jeske; great-grandchildren, Dax and Dane Harrod, C.J. (Taylor) Bennett, and McKinzie Marshall; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be held on Tuesday, July 24th from 10am - 5pm at Heritage Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 25th at 11am at the Pines Cemetery Mausoleum, 1402 S. Pines Rd., Spokane Valley, WA with a graveside service to follow. The family wishes to thank Susan Allen of Allen Adult Family Home and Hospice of Spokane for the love and care given to Ruby.

Ruby Witham was one of the warmest, wonderful people you could ever hope to meet. She was our neighbor for almost 20 years and I remember her warm quiet personality, her beautiful yard (we could walk through but NO BIKES) She was always working in her flower beds. She was like a second mom in the neighborhood and we loved her so very much. I know she and Lloyd are having a block party in heaven with our parents and the others that have left this earth. We love and miss you Ruby!
