Samuel DeCARO Obituary

A lifelong resident of Spokane passed away on June 2, 2025. Sam was born January 21, 1951, in Spokane, WA. Sam was draft number 13, in the U.S. Army, in 1969 as a Linesman and Sharpshooter for six years. Sam married his wife, Karla, of 49 years on June 30, 1975. Sam retired from Burlington Northern in 1989 after 21 years. Sam was a prominent member of the classic car community, where he was a NSRA and Good Guys rep and started various car shows that are still going on today. Sam is survived by his wife, Karla DeCaro; his children, Renae DeCaro, Jennifer (Jeremy) Licha (Brownsburg, IN), his 37 Chevy, Toni DeCaro, David DeCaro (Grantsville, UT), 67 Pontiac; and his eight grandchildren; along with his siblings, John (Janeen) DeCaro, Berlinda DeCaro, and Frank (Anne Marie) DeCaro. He was known and loved as "Papa" by his grandkids and "Uncle Bobby/Uncle Cannon" by his nieces and nephews. Sam was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Rosella DeCaro.

Rosary service will be Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at 6pm, at St. Aloysius, Spokane. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at 11am, also at St. Aloysius. The interment will follow at 1:00pm, Holy Cross Cemetery, Spokane, WA. Online memorial page can be found at www.holycrossofspokane.org.
