Sandra HUTH Obituary

Sandra Joyce "Sandy" Huth, 79, of Spokane, WA, passed away peacefully in her sleep on August 4, 2025, at Spokane Falls Care Center where she was recovering from a series of strokes.

Sandy was born on August 20, 1945, in Seattle to Art and Beth Huth. She grew up in Seattle before moving with her family to Spokane in 1958. She attended St. Augustine Grade School and graduated from Holy Names Academy.

Following high school, Sandy studied at Kinman Business School. She married Thomas Heafey in 1970. They lived for a time in Northampton, Massachusetts, before returning to Spokane.

Back in Spokane, Sandy worked at the Intercollegiate Nursing Center, the Spokane County Print Shop, and later the Spokane County Public Defender's Office. She was known for her dedication and strong work ethic throughout her career.

Sandy is survived by her sons Scott (Julie) Heafey and Gary Heafey; grandsons Liam Heafey and Josh Heafey; and her former daughter-in-law, Valorie Whitehill, with whom she shared a lasting and supportive bond. She is also survived by her brother Tom (Pam) Huth of Westlake Village, California; her sister Diane (Wayne) Meidinger of Cody, Wyoming; niece Nicky Huth and nephews Lonnie Meidinger, and Justin Huth.

She is also remembered by dear friends, especially Steve Jones, a lifelong confidant whose steadfast friendship brought Sandy much joy, laughter, and comfort throughout the years. Along with Steve, she cherished the companionship of Wes Whaley, Joyce Chungalo, and many others who deeply enriched her life.

Sandy had a lifelong love for animals and cherished her many furry companions, always treating them as valued members of the family.

She will be remembered for her kindness, compassion, quick sense of humor, and the countless family dinners she hosted over the years. Above all, Sandy put her family first and will live on in the hearts of all who loved her.

A Rosary will be held on Friday, September 5, at 11:00am at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 515 W St. Thomas More Way, Spokane, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Fr. Pat Kerst. An inurnment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, 7200 N Wall Street, Spokane.
