Scott BAILEY Obituary

February 9, 2025

Loon Lake - Scott Bailey (70) went to be with the Lord, surrounded by family and friends in his home. He was a devoted husband, son, and brother; loving father and grandfather; teacher to many; connected neighbor; and good friend. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jane; and father, Buzz. He is survived by his wife, Judy; children, Brittney (Josh) and Jared (Asha); four grandchildren; mother, Bobbi; siblings, Kim, Chris, Shannon (Rob), Jodi, and Jay (Jeni); and numerous nieces and nephews. Scott grew up in Spokane, graduating from LC. As a child, he was active in the Catholic church and came into a more personal relationship with Jesus through YoungLife. As an adult, Scott enjoyed skiing, hydroplane boat races, and snowmobiling. One of his true passions in life was hockey, which he began playing at age 40. A faithful season ticket holder of Spokane hockey since the '70s, he was a billet for 18 Chiefs in seven years. He did everything with his "bride" by his side: taking any guest on a boat cruise around the lake, teaching each grandchild how to drive a boat, and caring for their loving pups. In recent years, Scott felt immense joy from sitting back and watching his children raise their own beautiful families. Scott grew his electrical contracting business by word-of-mouth, experiencing consistent success for over 40 years. He would arrive as a contractor and leave as a friend. Hundreds of people will remember Scott as they simply turn on a light switch in their home; he leaves an indelible impression across the Inland Northwest. Scott was a one-of-a-kind human who is immensely loved and deeply missed. A memorial will be held for family and friends in March. In lieu of flowers, consider making a donation in his honor to the Ronald McDonald House of the Inland Northwest or the Loon Lake Land Conservancy.

God bless you Scotty. We enjoyed your friendship years ago with Jane and the Favre's snowmobiling. We appreciated your work on our greenhouse in Spokane and your work on our lake home back in 190 to 1991, along with boating on Coeur d'alene Lake years ago. Nice to see you at Rick's wedding and hope you rest in piece my friend.

Deeply saddened by Scout's passing. That is a very old nickname that some will remember. Met Scout in the 70s through Midland Electric Supply. His first wife, Jane, was my best friend. My heart goes out to Judy, the kids and siblings.

Oh my gosh!!! We just returned from vacation and I spoke with my wife that we needed to get back in touch with Scotty. Even last night late we discussed sending a text to him today to find out how he was doing. I´m so sorry to hear of his loss because his reputation is so phenomenal and his friendship so sincere. I am genuinely sad that we have lost a trustworthy true gentleman friend. Judy, I can´t imagine what you must be going through. Michelle and I will be praying for you and want to know if there is anything we can do for you. We´ve both lost our partners from before and know it must be a difficult time right now. Thank you for letting us know. He will be missed by many.

Scott was raised in Catholic, and went to Catholic school. The yr he was due to be in Jr High w all his buds, we were moved to public school. He had to start all over again, making friends. He always had one or two close friends. He was always mechanical. He took the back off the family tv when he was a young kid. When he was a young teen he secretly wired himself a phone back when they were strictly controlled by a monopoly. He and his neighborhood friend built a go-cart from scratch and rode up and down the alley on repeat. From go carts to minibikes, to tinkering w old cars in the driveway. He taught himself everything mechanical. And he was a tireless worker. Back then it was paper routes and mowing lawns to earn money to support his transportation choices. He apprenticed himself to an electrician as his first job out of high school, God bless the family friend that hired him as a ride along w his appliance install and repairman. Scott was willing to take risks. He would try his hanad at anything that needed to be done. He always said, "I hate learning, I like knowing." (Don't make him have to labor over directions.) His life was also forever changed by joining Young Life under the leadership of Chuck Fergeson during the outpouring of the Holy Spirit in the PNW in the 70s. And bc of his love for the Lord, so was ours. He led ever single member of the family to the Lord. Mom and dad, brothers and sisters. All of our lives were forever changed by his faith walk.

When I first met Scotty, it was a good day! For the following 15 years, we became a very close group of friends, including Gary. Our lunches would last over 3 hours, as we had a lot to share and felt very comfortable with each other.
Always willing to help out, he wired my swimming pool, hot tub, and the pool house. He helped my daughter by wiring the attic of her house and her hot tub. For these, and his friendship, we are ever grateful.
It was a sad day when we lost Scotty, truly, the epitome of a good man.
Sincere condolences to Judy and the grieving family.

When I first met Scotty at my husband's retirement party, I was impressed by how warm and friendly Scotty was. My husband, Ricky Favre, had always spoken very highly of Scotty & had many stories to tell about how wonderful Scotty has always been. When I first visited dear Scotty and his amazing wife, Judy, at their beautiful home, they both were so very warm & welcoming. Scotty truly had a heart of gold by enriching everyone's life that he touched. He is truly one in a million ... a very rare gem who is treasured by everyone who was lucky enough to have known him. My heart breaks for all who have lost this truly good man.

Scotty & I hit it off from day one in 7th grade at Sacajawea Junior High. Memories of our friendship continued throughout our time at LC High. I always thought of him as a brother throughout the years. I will always treasure the times we spent together, whether we were snowmobiling, skiing (downhill & water), or just crazy hi-jinx. We both shared a passion for being on the water, whether it was at my parents' lake cabin or at his own beautiful lake cabin that he built with his wonderful wife, Judy. I will forever tremendously miss Scotty!!!

I am very saddened to hear of Scott's passing. 19 years ago he hired me, an 18 year old kid, as a summer helper. He took me under his wing and taught me the electrical trade. Through his passion for being an electrician I decided that is what I wanted to do full time. Whenever I get a compliment on my electrical skills or proper tradesmanship on a jobsite I always think of Scott. Scott was not only a mentor but a friend. I owe my career which I love to him. He will be missed.

Dear Judy, I was saddened to see Scott's obituary in the paper. The time I came to your lake home for the Superbowl was a chance to meet him and to know what a nice man he was. When you stopped working at U-Hi I wondered where you were but I couldn't get any answers. I missed you but didn't know how to reach you. I finally stopped subbing right before my 77th Bday because I couldn't bear to get up a 6am one more day. If you would like to touch bases again I am still in the phone book on 27th just up the street from Scott's family home. Take care duty this very sad time. I'm thinking of you. Mary Sherwood

Scotty has been a special friend since Junior High School. He was such a positive person, fun loving, generous and kind and most of all a Christian. So many memories of high school hijinks, Young Life, reunions, times at his Loon Lake home with both he and Judy. And of course multiple electrical jobs at my home- driving up in his orange Corvette!!!! I´ll miss you my friend. Until we meet again in Glory!

I remember Scott from our Deca class our senior year of high school. He was always a fun and positive guy. I rode with him to some of our Deca luncheons and we would listen to John Denver to and from the luncheons. I will always think of Scott when I hear a John Denver song. I´m glad I got to share that memory with him at our 50th reunion. He was a great guy.
