Shirley CARNELL Obituary

Shirley Ann Carnell went to be with Jesus in Heaven on September 27, 2025. Her parents, Bernard and Mabel Wayerski, welcomed her into the world on October 4, 1930, and later enrolled her in Our Lady of Lourdes Academy and MaryCliff High School. Shirley married her childhood sweetheart, Victor, who became a very popular and much-loved dentist in the Spokane area, until his passing in 2018. Shirley was a devout Catholic who practiced her faith working at Hart and Dilatush Pharmacy in her youth, followed by her work with Meals on Wheels, the Sacred Heart Hospital gift shop and assisting at Catholic Mass. She loved to bowl and golf in league play and made many friends in both sports. She and dad also enjoyed playing Bridge with their close friends. Shirley was a gift from God to her six children, Richard, Robert, Susan, James, Julie, and Steven, who all survive her; along with seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Victor; and her brother, Ronald, and his wife, Pat; and dad's brother, Dr. Frank Vedelago, and his wife, Angela. To the staff at Rockwood at Whitworth, thank you so much for providing a loving and caring place that Shirley talked about as her home before she went to be with Jesus. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, October 3, at the Cathedral of our Lady of Lourdes Church in downtown Spokane, at 10 am, with a reception to follow. Rosary service will be a 9:30 am.
