LUNDY, Shirley

Shirley Lundy was born June 30, 1925 in Chicago, Illinois to Louis E and Mrytle I. (Cruse) Moon. She passed away peacefully at home on April 9th, 2017, in Chattaroy, WA. She loved to travel, camp, boat, fish, and hike, and spent many happy years travelling the Western US and often working as a camp host, making friends everywhere she went. In her 70s she took up woodworking, including scrollsaw and fretwork, and beading and jewelry-making. Shirley loved animals, especially dogs. She raised xoloitzcuintlis, and loved to compete at dog shows and rally obedience trials. She loved to read, and volunteered with the Friends of the Deer Park Library, working at the book sales. She was a free spirit, never afraid to tackle a new challenge or take up a new hobby or activity. Shirley was preceded in death by her first and second husbands, Charles Palmer of CA and Claude Lundy of NV respectively, and her half-brother, Louis Moon Jr, of Albany, New York. She is survived by her daughters, Vicki Belton of North Fork, CA and Laura Kier of Chattaroy, WA, her son, Don Richhart Sr. of Taylor Ridge, IL, and her cousin Mary Courtney of Wray, CO. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren live in California and Illinois. An informal celebration of life for her close friends and family will be held on Saturday, April 22nd at 1:00 PM at the Deer Park Library.
