Stanley DAVIS Obituary

June 4, 1947 - March 20, 2025

On March 20th we said goodbye to our favorite droid. Royal loved Star Wars, especially R2D2. He is on his final journey to Dagobah.

"Strong this planet is with the Force."

"It is one of the purest places in the Galaxy." -- Yoda

Royal was born in Wallace, ID, on June 4, 1947, to Clair and Eileen Davis. He grew up in Mullan, ID, and moved to Spokane at an early age. Graduating from Shadle Park High School with honors in 1965, then went to W.S.U. for two years before enlisting into the U.S. Army.

Royal served 17 months in Vietnam as a member of the B Battery, 5th Battalion, 22nd Artillery. He was a member of the Fire Direction Control Team. This unit was awarded the Meritorious Unit Commendation for distinguishing itself in support of military operations in Vietnam from December 1967 to April 1968 through the Tet Offensive.

Royal was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 1087.

Royal worked for the State of Washington in the Child Support Division. He later worked to open Northern Quest Casino and Angel of the Winds Casino in Arlington, WA. Finally retiring with the State of Washington Department of Transportation.

Royal loved to golf and enjoyed fishing on the Missouri River near Great Falls, MT. He enjoyed traveling with special trips to Montana, San Diego, San Juan Islands, and the Oregon coast. He made many trips to Laughlin, NV, with a special group of friends.

He also enjoyed having a couple of cold ones at the Office Tavern, the Hi Neighbor Tavern, and loved the Hub Tavern. He especially enjoyed his Friday afternoon playing cribbage with his best friends, Gary, Bill, and Kay.

Royal is survived by his loving wife, Sally, spousal unit of 44 years; his two furballs, Oly and Tang; brother-in-law, David Remmel; and sister-in-law, Robin Baker; cousin, Rob Davis; niece, Deon; and nephew, Kyle.

Royal was preceded in death by his parents, Clair and Eileen; and brother, Larry.

At Royal's request there will not be a memorial service.

The family would like to thank the wonderful care he received for many years from Doctor Douglas Wysham, Doctor Alan Kelly, nurse Kim, and Doctor David Bragin-Sanchez, especially Catherine who assisted with daily monitoring. -- Thank you, all.
