Terrill HUNT Obituary

HUNT, Terrill E. "Terry" Father, grandfather, brother and wonderful husband of Roberta L. Hunt, passed away June 24th surrounded by his loving family. Terry was born in Spokane, Washington, May 4th 1936, to Robert A. and Cora M. Hunt. He attended Lewis and Clark High School and Washington State University, which began his lifelong devotion to the Cougars. While attending high school he met his true love, Roberta (Michlitch) Hunt, in 1954, and they married in Spokane in 1958. Terry began working for his dad at Spokane Safe and Lock (now Allied Fire and Security) in 1957 as a locksmith trainee and progressed to President of Allied in 1976. He was beloved by his many employees, whom he loved in return. He dedicated many years to helping Allied Fire and Security become the successful business that it remains today, now in its third generation as a family business, headed by his son, Jay Hunt. As a pillar to the community of Spokane, Terry was involved in many organizations including; WSU Foundation Benefactor and member of the WSU Spokane Advisory Board; President of the Boy Scouts Advisory Board and Golden Eagle Club; chairman of the March of Dimes Celebrity Golf Tournament; Spokane Rotary; Association of Washington Business AAA; Heart of Hospice Gifts Committee; and Security and Advisory Committee for World Expo '74 in Spokane. In 2010 he received the Business Laureate Hall of Fame Award from Junior Achievement of the Inland Northwest, as well as the WSU Alumni Achievement Award which is the highest honor bestowed by the WSUAA. Terry had many passions in life. He was an avid golfer and as a 50 year member of Manito Golf and Country Club, he frequented the golf course there as well as "The Lakes" in Palm Desert, CA. The family cabins at Trout Lake, British Columbia were very near and dear to his heart, where he cherished time with his family, fishing and working on projects. Terry is survived by his wife, Roberta and children: Jay (Mary) Hunt, Spokane; Craig (Joan) Hunt, Spokane and Jill Hunt (Clint Hinkley), Salmon, ID. Grandchildren: Bradley Hunt (Sweden), Kimberly Hunt (Sweden); Mia and Ali Hunt, Spokane; Andrea Leslie (Craig), Scottsdale, AZ; Angie Wilkins, Little Compton, RI; Mark Wilkins, Spokane. Brother: Robin (Barbara) Hunt, Nipomo, CA Funeral service will be held Monday June 29th at 9:30 am at Westminster Congregational Church 411 S. Washington St. followed by a reception at Manito Golf and Country Club, 5303 S. Hatch Rd. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Boy Scouts of America, 411 W. When I lived in Spokane and worked for Rotary Club #21, Terry was one of my favorite Rotarians. I moved in 1992 and worked for WSU where I was still able to be in contact with Terry. He was a fun and kind man, and I have remembered his kindness all of these years since. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this time. Debi Siebert Dockins, Viola, Idaho

Roberta and Family,

Mom called me yesterday to share the sad news of Terry's passing. She knew how special he was to me and how I looked forward to seeing you both whenever our paths might cross during a visit home to Spokane. I will miss him and his kind words.
My sincere sympathies to you all.
Much love.

Dear Roberta, Jay and family,
Mel and I extend our heartfelt condolences. We loved Terry so very much. He was so much more than just a "boss" to Mel. He was a mentor, an inspiration and a dear friend. I always looked forward to seeing Terry at the annual Allied Christmas parties. His hugs and smiling face will be so missed. Terry was the epitome of what a "leader" should be. Heaven has gained a very special angel and I know that he will be waiting at the gates with a warm hug and "Welcome! I'm so glad to see you" when we all see him again some day. You are all in our thoughts and prayers.
