Tim HOKENSON Obituary

Hokenson, Tim, 75, passed away on January 4, 2025, at Farmington, WA.

Tim Hokenson was born on April 18, 1949, to Margaret and Walter Hokenson in Spokane, Washington. He grew up in Tekoa, Washington, where he graduated High School in 1967. He attended Spokane Falls Community College, where he studied drafting. He served in the Army, stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina and in Germany.

He made his home in Tekoa, where he worked for a farmer and eventually made his way to the John Deere dealership in both Tekoa and Fairfield. In the 1990s he began participating in the Tekoa Parade, driving a tractor in it for Cash Hardware. He had several awards for being top salesman. He participated on three separate John Deere adventures overseas. After his retirement, he continued his "farming" with Larry Heaton. Tim was involved in the communities of both in Tekoa and Farmington. He sat on both city Councils, was a Tekoa school board member for several years, a volunteer ambulance driver, mowed the Tekoa cemetery for a short time, and plowed snow for Farmington for several years.

He married Laura Ann Wolfe on Friday, July 13, 1973. They raised two daughters in Tekoa. He enjoyed snowmobiling with his friends and family. Their daughters were raised in Tekoa. The family moved to Seltice, Washington in 1986 where he had a 7/8 of an acre plot of dirt which became the new and improved garden. Where about half was full of corn. He also had planted peanuts one year just to see if they would grow. The lawn mower changed from push only to a riding lawn mower. The family had a lot of fun, as they did a lot of camping and sightseeing, along with his "drives" that end up at random faraway places. Many trips to the mountains and various lakes. They visited a few National Parks and Monuments where they camped as well. Some trips were just to the woods, to gather wood for the woodstove.

His survivors include his wife, Laura; daughter, Brenda (Chad Trautman), Angela; grandchildren, Anna, Caitlyn, Keith, Haley and Quincey; sister, Linda (Robert Zehm); brother, Donald; two nephews, Trevor (Karrie) Zehm and Travis (Tracey) Zehm; niece, Samantha (Cody Hanson); and two great-nieces, Shelby, and Jenna; and three great-nephews, Gavin, Grady and Cooper.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 18, 2025, 3:00 P.M. at the Farmington Seventh Day Adventist Church, Farmington, WA with Plummer Post # 69 V.F.W. and the United States Army Honor Guard conducting military Honors.

Tim was a wonderful and dedicated person. His quick whit and supper laugh was contagious. He had the best stories. I sure do miss him. I wish the best to you and your family in this difficult time. You are all in our prayers.
