Tim A. SMITH

Tim Alan Smith, age 74, of Spokane Valley, Washington, passed away on August 5, 2025, surrounded by his loving wife, Julie Smith, and his two sons, Kenny Smith and Andy Smith.

Born on February 3, 1951, in Spokane, Washington, Tim was the son of Jack and Colleen Smith. He graduated from Central Valley High School and spent a dedicated 32 years as Head of Maintenance at University High School and Evergreen Middle School in the Central Valley School District. His commitment to doing the job right, diligent work ethic, and pride in the facilities he cared for were deeply appreciated and seen by his colleagues, teachers, and coaches for more than three decades. He was loved by his team and cared deeply about their success in and out of the workplace.

He coached youth baseball and football for many years, with a priority on building character in the young athletes he mentored. Known for his genuine interest in others, Tim had a way of making people feel seen and valued. Anywhere he was a "regular," he was known and loved. Always willing to make himself available, his friends and family would attest that his "hobby" was helping and serving those he loved and cared about.

He loved watching sports, especially Wazzu football. We know his chair will be ready to enjoy his first Apple Cup in heaven. He loved reading biographies of great leaders, applying their lessons to his own life and work.

Tim is survived by his devoted wife, Julie; his sons, Kenny and wife Paula, Andy and wife Cierra; and his cherished grandsons, Graham and Brooks, who knew him as "Papa." His life was a testament to selfless availability to the ones he loved, and his presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A memorial service will be held on October 18th, at 2pm, at Valley Real Life Church, with reception to follow.
