Valentina Yakich Obituary

Yakich, Valentina 88. Early on Monday morning, November 14th, our much loved mom, grandma, great-grandma and mother-in-law, Valentina Yakich, left this earth for her heavenly home. So as she rejoices with her Savior Jesus, we miss her: her daughter Lily and son-in-law Erik, and her son Rudy. Her grandchildren James Blomstedt and Jennifer Brooks (Jared) were a joy to her, and she delighted in her great-grandchildren Lorelai and Adam Brooks. She treasured her friendship with Anna Blomstedt, Erik's mother. She leaves her brother Yuri Schulz, a niece and nephew in Germany, and several cousins. She had sadness in her life with the passing of her parents, Rudolf and Nina (Ratz) Shulz and her step-father Robert Rutkowsky, also her brother Alfred, her husband Ante, an infant son Alfred and a nephew, Leonid Schulz. She was born in a German area of Kiev, Ukraine, and during WWII she escaped to a refugee camp where she met and married her love Ante. After living in Belgium, they moved to Chicago in 1956 and both worked hard to raise their children. She leaves a legacy of faith in her Lord Jesus Christ. Her life of service, love, and compassion was her gift to us. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at Judson Memorial Baptist Church on Saturday, December 10th with visitation at 9:30 AM followed by the service at 11:00 AM. Rev. Kevin Comfort will officiate. Instead of flowers, memorials can be made to Judson Memorial Baptist Church or the Joliet Area Hospice.

Dear Lily and Erik and family, I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your mom/grandma. I am so priveledged to have known her. I just heard about it from Marge Hazen. I hope you get this. You are in my thoughts and prayers. I am so thankful Valentina is with Jesus. She will be missed.
