Vina WARD Obituary

WARD, Vina B. (Age 104) Vina Belle (Sevdy) Ward who died at Hospice House on April 3, 2020, was born on November 29, 1915, in Beeler, Idaho to Leslie and Ruth (Elliott) Sevdy. Her father and mother were descended from pioneers and homesteaders who emigrated to Kootenai and Whitman counties from New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Iowa. When Vina was two years old, the family moved to Pullman, WA and bought 80 acres, which evolved into the Sevdy's Modern Mobile Court in the 1950s. Vina graduated from Pullman High School and then St. Ignatius Nursing School in Colfax in 1938 as a Registered Nurse. She married Fredric T. Ward, a student at Washington State College in 1939 and settled in Ward's hometown of Pomeroy, Washington. In 1959 the family moved to Spokane. Fred continued his contracting business, and Vina worked as a nurse at Sacred Heart Hospital and later as a private duty nurse before she retired in the 1980s. They lived on East Indiana Avenue until 2000 when they moved to North Pointe Assisted Living. Fred passed away on July 22, 2002, and Vina lived there until December 2019 when she moved to Royal Park. Vina was a devout Catholic who loved God and her family above all else. She is survived by two sisters: Sharon Knight and Lorena Lindley; her sons: Fredric, Thomas and Joseph; and daughters: Judith, Mary, Barbara and Monica, and over 18 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grand- children. The funeral and burial are pending until the State ban is lifted. Check the Hennessy website periodically for the dates of the services at www.HennesseyFuneralHomes.com.

The most loving mom ever. I will miss your faithfulness to our family, your steadfast love and prayers when the child that needed it most at the time received it. Your financial support to me since the day I was born. No judgment, only continued guidance and support when I needed it. Tough LOVE when required. Working as a Nurse Aide with you as my guide at nursing homes we worked at together was so special to me. You being the best RN ever. You wanted me to be sure to tell everyone that your family was first, but your nursing career was a very close second. You were the best bedside nurse I have ever seen. I love you mom. I always will hold you in my heart. You are now in the Lords loving arms and a Saint in heaven. I miss you and love you.
