Virginia Seitz Obituary

SEITZ, Virginia May (Age 84) Died peacefully August 30, 2009 after a brief but valiant battle with cancer with her daughter, Marsha, by her side. Born April 10, 1925 in Ellensburg, WA, she was the youngest of two children born to Esther (Paulson) and Loy Rusch. She attended Yakima High School and graduated from Missoula High School. On January 17, 1946 she married the light and love of her life, R.J. Seitz. Two cherished children were born of this union. She achieved success in both the public and private sectors, working for the Department of Justice and as a Legal Secretary for an Attorney in Yakima. In 1967 they moved to Spokane, where she worked as a Secretary for the Spokane Board of Realtors before retiring in 1974. She was an outstanding cook and homemaker, an excellent seamstress and knitter, avid reader and crossword puzzle fan who also enjoyed playing cards. A highlight of her retirement was golfing with her husband and friends at Sundance Golf Club, where she was a member. Our mother was loving and selfless. She never complained, had no wants or needs and always put her family first. By any measure, the ledger of her life shows a substantial positive balance. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother; her husband of 62 years, R.J. Seitz; and is survived by daughters, Linda (Jim) DeChaineau of Seattle and Marsha (Harley) Chamberlain of Portland; and a nephew, Loy Rusch of Portland. At Virginia's request, there will be no formal services - the family will hold a private memorial. Entombment will be at Terrace Heights Park Mausoleum in Yakima, WA. In lieu of flowers, friends may make contributions to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123. Virginia will be remembered as a loving and giving daughter, sister, wife, mother and aunt, who was devoted to her family.
