Vivian Ann (Jaspers) Gregson passed peacefully into the loving arms of the Lord at her home on December 13, 2025. Vivian, also known as Punk to her siblings, Nana to her grandchildren, and Aunt Punky by numerous nieces and nephews, was born at home on June 21, 1936, in Lewiston, ID, to Leo and Alta Jaspers. She was 89 years old and prided herself as being a "tough old bird."
Vivian became a Registered Nurse through the Sacred Heart Nursing School in Spokane, WA, and graduated in 1957. She lived a life of service, providing care to the employees of the Kaiser Mead plant in north Spokane during the 1960s. Later, after lovingly raising their two adopted daughters, she worked with various adult care facilities in the Spokane Valley. As her full-time career years wound down, she always looked forward to seeing all the familiar faces when it was time for administering flu vaccinations.
She was an active member of the Saint Paschal Alter Society and seemed to "always be there" when other families needed support with funeral meals or wedding celebrations. When not helping with church functions and activities, she was often out in her yard minding the gardens or in the kitchen making birthday cakes, canning fruit, or, as all the rest of us would hope: making Peanut Brittle! No matter the activity, if the Zags or Seahawks were playing, she was full-stop until the games were over.
Vivian was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, James A. Gregson, who died in March of 1990; three of her siblings: Marjorie Brewer, Robert Jaspers, and Marie Williams; and her later companion and traveling partner, Richard Gwydir.
She is survived by her daughters, Mary Segalla and Rachel Boals; her brother, Phillip Jaspers; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Rosary for Vivian will begin at 10:30 am and be immediately followed at 11:00 am by a Funeral Mass at St. Paschal Catholic Church in Spokane Valley on December 30, 2025.
