William CARRUTHERS Obituary

CARRUTHERS,
William A.
"Bill" (Age 52)

The world has lost a beloved Dad, Grandpa, Brother, Uncle, and Friend.

Bill passed away unexpectedly February 9, 2017 in Spokane, WA where he lived all of his life. Bill was born on April 22, 1964 to Arnie and Bonnie Carruthers in Spokane, WA.
He was a University High School Titan graduate of 1982 where he proudly marched in the U-High Band.
After high school Bill and his brother Don, joined their sister Charlotte in playing in their own band and also often with their dad, Arnie Carruthers. Bill was a gifted musician, especially known for his talent on the trumpet as well as a remarkable and passionate singer.
Throughout his life, Bill always stayed involved with music, whether it was performing for all types of events, or private jam sessions with close friends. Everyone that was fortunate enough to hear Bill perform will never forget his touching rendition of Louis Armstrong or his spot-on performance of the Blues Brothers with his brother, Don.
Bill's occupation for the last 25 years was working and mentoring underprivileged children, to help them during the difficult times in their life. Many of these children have reached out to him over the years to thank him for the positive impact he had on their lives.
For many years Bill looked forward to the family tradition of spending time at Marshall Lake with his two sons, Caiden and Rylen. Close friends and family often joined them, which created some of his best memories during these yearly camping trips.
Some of Bill's favorite things besides being a grandpa and hanging out with friends, were classic cars and car shows, fishing and camping with his sons, good coffee, a cold beer and being a die-hard Minnesota Vikings and Dallas Stars fan. He was a regular in attending "The Viking Coalition" at the Bigfoot Pub and Eatery. He was extremely close with his brothers and sisters and loved attending his son's band concerts and sporting events throughout their school years.
Bill was preceded in death by his mother Bonnie and father Arnie.
He is survived by his children Tyrel, Tiffany, Caiden (Hannah) and Rylen and his granddaughters Makenzie and Haiden.
Bill leaves behind his brothers and sisters; Charlotte, Doug, Denise, Lori and Don (Lori), and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
His kids and granddaughters will forever miss their Dad, "Bill-Dad", Grandpa and "Papa Bill".

Your music will live on in our hearts forever
and you will be truly missed. LYL.......

Because of the many lives Bill touched through his life, his work and his music, many are eager to get together to honor and remember Bill. It has been comforting to know just how many friends he has and heartwarming to learn that many of his friends have already had their own events in Bill's memory.
A "Celebration of Life" for Bill will be held Saturday, February 18th, at Roller Valley off of Dishman-Mica, from 9:00 am to 11:30 am. An additional celebration of Bill's life is also being arranged for later this year (date TBD) when many of his out-of-town family and friends will be able to attend. This later event will include a jam session and even more memories of our beloved Bill.
