Passed away peacefully early Monday morning, February 27th, after suffering the effects of multiple strokes for several years.
Born in Salt Lake City, Utah in 1941 to Burton and Dorothea Warnick, he was the fourth of five children. From an early age he had an interest in things mechanical and electronic.
In 1958, at 17 years of age, with the help of his parents he enlisted in the Air Force and was assigned to the 320th Bomb Wing, 320th Armament and Electronics Maintenance Squadron (AEMS) at March Air Force Base in Riverside, CA. There he became a Bombing and Navigation Systems Technician for B-47 Bombers.
After serving in the Air Force he attended Weltech College in Sugar House, which became the Salt Lake School of Electronics and later worked at Rocketdyne. He stated: "I remember doing a series of vibration tests on a small thruster that was like the one eventually used on the spacecraft that landed on the moon. It was quite amazing to be watching an obviously solid piece of equipment that, when it reached its resonant frequency, would start waving around like it was rubber."
In 1964, at the age of 23, he was called on a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints in the Western States Mission where he served honorably for two years.
In July of 1971 he married Patricia Ann Findlay. Together they have two children: William Thomas and Ryan Scott Warnick. He and Patricia divorced in 1977.
He married Gloria Jean Wolosuk on February 14, 1978. Together they have three children: Christy Lynn, Kelly Michelle and Michael David Warnick. He loved being a father and often stated how proud he was of his children.
In 1979 he graduated from Los Angeles College of Chiropractic and began his practice in Vallejo, California. He served with the California Chiropractic Association as Treasurer and later, Second Vice president. He also served as President of The North Bay Chiropractic Association.
Bill was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints and loved the true and restored Gospel. He served in many church callings throughout his life including Teacher, High Counselor, Bishop and held the office of a Seventy.
He is survived by his loving wife Gloria J. Warnick, of Spokane, Washington; children William (Tammy) Warnick of Idaho; Ryan (Kerrie) Warnick of Oregon; Christy Warnick of California; Kelly (Eric) Westover of California; and Michael Warnick of Washington and ten grandchildren; Payton, Leah, Audrey (Bill); Morgan, Macy, Ainsley, Norah (Ryan) Quinton, Avery and Rhys (Kelly), who will always remember their Papa and Grandpa as a loving and kind disciple of Christ. He is also survived by his sister, Linda (Dennis) Harlin of Idaho. He was preceded in death by his sister Beverly Daly, and brothers Ray and Burton Warnick.
The family would like to extend a warm salutation to the staff at North Central Care Center on N. Wall Street who loved and cared for him daily.
A short Military memorial service will be held on Friday, March 3rd at 10:30am at the Washington State Veterans Cemetery, 21702 West Espanola Road, Medical Lake , WA. 509-299-6280. Everyone is welcome.
