March 28, 1940 - October 5, 2025

Lois Margaret Courter March 28, 1940 – October 5, 2025

A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Lois Margaret Courter passed away peacefully on October 5, 2025. Born in Spooner, Wisconsin, Lois lived a life grounded in love, family, hard work, and friendship.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Gordon Keates. After becoming a widow at a young age with two daughters, Lois became a pioneering businesswoman in Fort Myers, Florida. She later married Darrell Courter, her devoted husband of 45 years.

Lois will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Kimberly Hunt (John) and Barbi O'Bannon (Dayne); her grandchildren, Kenny Coar (Kory), Amanda Coar, Emily McMillin (Trevor), Anna Cain (William), and John Forrest Hunt; and her great-grandchildren, Bryson, Kolton, Zachari, and Harlow, who brought her endless joy and pride.

She was known for her fearless entrepreneurial spirit, tireless work ethic, and generosity. Lois approached both business and life with confidence, creativity, and determination, inspiring everyone around her. She is also survived by her stepchildren, Deneen Hales (Greg) and Kevin Courter.

Lois will also be fondly remembered by her dearest friends, Carol Dudley, Gail Markham, Gene Sutton, and Dr. Francesca Swartz, whose love and companionship enriched her life.

Lois' kindness, courage, and love will continue to guide her family and all who were lucky enough to know her. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit lives on in the countless lives she touched.
