Marie Charlotte Bernadette Hottendorf Frischmann passed away very peacefully on May 21, 2024, in Rochester, Minnesota, family at her side. She had just turned 95.
She was born in Queens, New York, in 1929. After high school, Mom went to work in Manhattan. She met Dad (John Frischmann) in 1948 while working at the same bank. After dating, Dad proposed to Mom on Valentine's Day, 1949. They were married on August 19, 1950. They lived on Long Island and in Endwell, NY, until the summer of 1971, when the family moved to Rochester, Minnesota. After spending 5 years in Minnesota, they relocated back to Minnesota, then relocated back to upstate New York. In 1986, they both decided to settle in Shell Lake, Wisconsin.
Mom and Dad had 6 boys, the first one lost in child birth in 1951. The family always marveled how she managed to raise 5 little boys and 1 big one and still hold onto her sanity. We all believe the 5:00 martinis might have helped ease the journey.
Always restless, she attended art classes in the late '70s. Marie produced many oil paintings and Tole painted plates, which still adorn her Shell Lake house. She was a fastidious artisan and took great pride in her work. Looking to earn some extra income, she also worked for a real estate company for about 8 years from 1978 to 1987.
Marie's family was the world to her. After losing her husband in May 2012, she continued to live at her Shell Lake house until the Fall of 2022. Her large extended family loved to come see her at her house, as well as spend time next door at her son Tom's house. Generations of family enjoyed many hours of cocktail cruises, waterski lessons and annual Fourth of July boat parades, organized by her late husband, John.
Mom and Dad's first generation and spouses include John (Nancy) Frischmann, Steve (Deb Hume), Jaime, Tom (Beth) Frischmann and Robert (Ann) Frischmann. Nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren have followed.
Mom has left a legacy of kindness, wittiness, love, understanding, attention to detail and perseverance that her family has inherited and have strived to pass on to the next generation.

Aunt Marie was my Mom´s older sister, and I´ve uploaded a picture of the two of them from around the 1950´s...the two of them loved each other very much. I remember well the fun times we had with our cousins along the years, as Momma had 6 children as well, one passed at birth, and all of us were stair stepped in age pretty much down the line. Our hearts and love go out to the Frischmann family as they say goodbye for now to their loving Matriarch.
