Mark Minot Obituary

Mark Minot

September 23, 1953 - May 12, 2025

Mark L. Minot, age 71, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 12, 2025, in Shell Lake, Wisconsin. He was the first born of Nancy (Rydberg) and Edwin Minot. Mark was a 1972 graduate of Shell Lake High School and earned degrees from CVTC in Eau Claire.

Mark was a one-of-a-kind character. His family and friends appreciated his kindness, interests and his stories. Whether it was casting a line into a lake, working on his many hobbies and collections, looking through his microscopes, spending time with his longtime friend Theresa or meeting friends for coffee to chat. Mark lived life on his own terms.

Mark was married to Cynthia Helstrom in 1976, in Eau Claire, and they shared happy years until her passing in 1988. Mark's love for his family was one of the things that mattered most to him. He is survived by his two children, Sara Suick (and her children Callie, Caitlin, Caralyn, and Conor) and Peter Minot (wife Lisa, and their children Eli, Logan, and Ruby). Mark is also survived by his siblings, Steve (Cheri) Minot and Pamela (Randy) Ladd, as well as many nieces and nephews. Mark was preceded in death by his parents, brother Frank Halvorson, and sister Lori Sumner.

A private family celebration of Mark's life will be held on October 11, 2025, in Shell Lake.
