Dan Johnson

Daniel "Dan" Sherman Johnson, 81, of Comstock died, March 5, 2026, at Shell Lake Health Care Center. He was born September 24, 1944, in Cumberland, WI to Sherman and Naomi (Heinecke) Johnson.

He was married to Sharon Long and together they shared 56 years of marriage. They went on many trips together; the highlight was their trip to Hawaii with Mike and Cyndi.

Dan worked for the state of Wisconsin for 35 years. In retirement he fulfilled his dream of building and running a greenhouse. He had a large produce garden which included peppers, tomatoes, and squash. Dan also grew over 10,000 flowers in his flower beds around the house.

He had a passion for hunting and fishing. This passion took him on many adventures across the upper Midwest and helped to finely tone his cooking skills. He took great pride in the many meals he served to family and friends. Most of all, Dan loved spending time with and spoiling his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon; sons: Troy Johnson, Tom (Laurie) Kirpach, and Ryan (Rebecca) Johnson; step-daughter, Diane (Dan) Clinton; grandchildren: Allanah, Naomi, Jack, and Jasmine; sister, Kay (Charles) Christensen; sisters-in-law: Carol Wallin and Patricia Talbot; and many other family and friends. Dan was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Jackie Shepard.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Thursday March 12, 2026, at First Lutheran Church with Pastor Tim Schmidt officiating. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9-11 AM.
