Marilyn Joan Vig, 95, of Cumberland, died Monday, February 16, 2026 at Care and Rehab-Cumberland surrounded by loved ones. She was born November 5, 1930 in Spooner to Noble and Belva (Casler) Baggs. She attended Baggs School, Twin Lakes School and then graduated from Spooner High School in 1948.

Marilyn married Henning Vig on April 17, 1950. They lived in Cumberland for 51 years, where Marilyn worked at Northwestern State Bank (US Bank) for twenty-three of those years. She attended Real Estate School, then worked for J&J Land Co. for five years, and later for the Island City Food Co-op for 3 years. Hennig passed away in 2001. Marilyn moved to Superior where she lived for about 2 years. She married Bob Davis on Jan 15, 2009 and they lived happily together until he passed in 2025.

Marilyn's passion was hiking, and she was a member of the Superior Hiking Trail Association. She was also a member of the Hunt Hill Sanctuary, Superior Public Museums, Barron County Humane Society, and the Lake Superior Maritime Center. Another love was sewing and Counted Cross Stitch, and she donated all her works to worthy causes. In later years, she made and donated many, many unique dolls and Teddy Bears for fund raising.

She is survived by her children: Gary Vig (Clare Janty) of Cumberland, Dale Vig of Fitchburg and Joan (Phil) Oswald of Wrenshall, MN; step-children: Dave and Diana Johnson and their children, Andrea and Robert; her adopted family: Warren and Del Engrisch. She was preceded in death by her sister, Lucille Engrisch of Rice Lake.
