Barbara MINTER Obituary
News Death Notice
MINTER, Barbara L. 74, of Springfield, passed away Tuesday afternoon, September 15, 2015 at the James Cancer Hospital at The Ohio State University following a heroic battle with cancer. She was born in Springfield on November 12, 1940, the daughter of the late J.G. and Katherine (Wynkoop) Clark. Barb earned her B.A. in Education from Wittenberg University with a minor in music. While at Wittenberg, she was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. Barb taught 6th grade at Northwestern Elementary School for 30 years and tutored in her home following her retirement. An active member of Bethel Baptist Church, Barb played the piano, helped organize Club House (an after-school program), and sang in the choir. She was past president of AZ Chapter of PEO, an organization dedicated to providing educational opportunities for women. Barb also helped organize an annual holiday dinner at the Salvation Army in memory of Lynette Errett and Dianna Evans. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Craig Minter; a son, J. Douglas Minter; and grandchildren, Timothy William Evans, Katherine Elizabeth Minter, Lily Abigail Minter, and Ian Eichelberger. Also surviving are close friends, Kimberly Clark Boggs, Andrea Parrott, Bill and Toni Helfrich, Roger Porter, and Ann DeLanglade; a cousin, Brian Wynkoop; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Dianna Marie Evans in 2013. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Saturday in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME. Barb's funeral service will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Scott Fetter officiating. Burial will be in Ferncliff Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to PEO-AZ Chapter, c/o Susan Headley, 1927 Fairway Dr., Springfield, OH 45504. Barb taught me everything I know about teaching. She cared about each student and her fellow teachers. I was blessed to have her supervise my student teaching and was honored to have her as my teaching partner for the first few years of my career. My condolences to her family and friends.
