News Death Notice

STOLL, Carl L. 88, of Springfield, passed away on Friday, November 19, 2010, in his residence. He was born on November 1, 1922, in Springfield, the son of Omar L. and Mary (Sparrow) Stoll. He retired from the Springfield News-Sun after forty-two years of service. Carl was a volunteer Firefighter and Township Trustee for over thirty years. He enjoyed league bowling for sixty years, camping at Indian Lake, and was an avid fan of harness racing as well as owning two harness race horses. Carl especially enjoyed coaching and supporting his grandchildren in sports. He is survived by his wife Margaret "Peggy" Stoll of forty-four years, one daughter, Shirley Walls of Toms Brook, Virginia; two sons and a daughter-in-law: Terry and Anita Stoll of Urbana, and Gary Stoll of Cable; step daughter, Debbie Miller, five grandchildren and their spouses: Lisa Walls, Beth and Brant Bruno, Jeff Geer, Tera and Justin Mohler, and TR and Shawna Stoll; ten great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Sharon, two sisters: Esther Powers, and Janice Boblitt; son-in-law, Lee Walls, and great grandson, Justin Boswell. A celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME. Friends may call from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the service.
